REVIEW: Avon Skin So Soft Radiant Glow Body Care

by - August 22, 2018

Even though my skin is definitely more problematic in the winter, summer body care definitely gets a lot more attention from me since... you know, my skin is all out there in the hot weather. This summer, one of the hottest I can remember here in Winnipeg, I've spent a fair bit of time outside and accidentally gotten a bit of a tan on my fair skin, so I've been showing it off a little bit and really do want that rich, golden glow that everyone is always on about. Recently, I've been trying out a couple of Avon Skin So Soft Radiant Glow* body care products and they've definitely been doing their part in helping me get a little bit closer to that J.Lo glow that will, let's face it, always be out of reach for my pasty ass... but a woman can dream!

When I initally saw these two products, I figured Avon had pretty much done exactly what they should have to give really glowing, healthy looking summer skin. Starting with the Skin Luminosity Polish* to slough off dry, dull looking skin followed by the Illuminating Dry Oil Mist* - with gold shimmer - to hydrate and illuminate the skin. This is definitely a well curated pair, in my opinion.

I also really feel like Avon has been upping their game when it comes to the packaging recently. While these are both basic plastic components, I feel like the branding is really modern and simple in a way that makes them really pleasing to me. Also... I mean... Could the golden shimmer in the dry oil bottle be any prettier? Two thumbs up for the packaging, Avon!

Skin So Soft Radiant Glow Skin Luminosity Polish*
Nourish your skin while revealing a natural radiance. Gently exfoliates and polishes away dead, dulling layers. With four nourishing oils and vitamin E.

Initially, I thought that this polish wouldn't have much scrub to it because when you first look at it, it just seems like it doesn't have much grit. However, once you actually scoop it out and start scrubbing with it, you'll find that it has a very fine, soft grit to it that works great for sloughing the skin. Worked into the skin, it has a gentle but effective scrub that leaves the skin feeling soft but doesn't sensitize or irritate the skin at all. It has a scent that I can really only describe as being creamy - which is difficult to explain but I think will make perfect sense once you use it. The smell does linger on the skin, but because it's really that creamy smell, I don't personally find that it interferes with other fragrances or feels overwhelming.

I have to say, I really like this polish and feel like it made a really noticeable difference in the smoothness of the texture of my skin and allowed the next product to penetrate a little bit more easily.

Skin So Soft Radiant Glow Illuminating Dry Oil Mist*
Nourish skin while getting a soft, all-over shimmer. A unique blend of five nourishing oils helps moisturize.

I really, really love a dry oil in the summer. They tend to be quite a bit lighter, but really add some luminosity to the skin that provides a healthy glow. With the added golden shimmer, this one definitely has that in spades. I really like the amount of product that this mister dispenses, giving you a lot of control over how much you apply so that you don't go too ham with it. I like to mist it in a targeted area and then rub it in over my skin. For me, this is definitely an upper body type of product that I like to apply to my arms, shoulders and decolletage because those are the placess that I really like to have that healthy glow. I was worried that the gold shimmer would  be a little bit too overwhelming for me, but on skin with a bit of a tan this just gives a little bit of a hint of glow to catch the light and doesn't feel at all overwhelming.

My favorite thing about this dry oil, however, and the thing that has me going back to it again and again is the scent. It's just... stunning. It reminds me a little bit of Moroccan Oil products with that overt sweetness paired with something a little richer. I can't even tell you how gorgeous it is except to say that in my notes about this product, the first bullet point was "smells AMAZING" and the third was "holy smells SOGOOD." So. Yeah. I love the smell of this.

Overall, I'm really super impressed with these two products. Above and beyond them both being solidly good, effective products, I feel like they step a little bit outside of what Avon generally tends to do with their Skin So Soft line and really add something different to the line. For me, the biggest winner here is the Illuminating Dry Oil Mist, because that smell is heavenly and I really love the way it makes my skin look, but I also really, really enjoy the Skin Luminosity Polish. I actually try a lot of Avon Skin So Soft products, but these two have really managed to stand above a lot of the others for me.
