REVIEW: Flawless By Friday Exfoliating Booster Serum
Hi guys! In case it isn't painfully obvious based on how much skin care content I've been putting out recently, I've been on a huge skin care kick recently. After about 6 weeks of being sick this spring and putting my skin care routine firmly on the backburner as a result, my skin was a bit of a mess and I really needed to kick back into high gear. One of the products that I decided to test during this period is the Flawless By Friday Exfoliating Booster Serum. I've sort of been peripherally aware of Canadian brand Flawless By Friday for a while now, but this is the first product I've used from the brand and I was super, super excited to give it a go.

About:
This unique serum featuring hyaluronic acid and alpha hydroxy acids will help you see improvements in your skin's tone and texture with regular usage over time; it can also help simultaneously combat acne and the signs of aging. This serum is an easy-to-use treatment that can be applied every night before bed after you cleanse your skin.
INGREDIENTS:
Water, Glycolic Acid, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract Juice, Tocopherol, Hyaluronic Acid, Glycerin, Lactic Acid, Malic Acid, Xanthum Gum, Sodium Polyacrylate, Adenosine, Pheoxyethanol.
The promise of only needing one drop of this serum that contains hyaluronic acid as well as 3 different alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) - glycolic acid, lactic acid, and malic acid - is really what made this a must try for me. I hadn't actually read many reviews and this product wasn't really on my radar, but a look at the claims, instructions and ingredient list had me very much on board for trying it out. Admittedly, I'd normally introduce a product like this a little more slowly than I did, but this time around this went directly into my nightly skin care routine.
First off, what they say is true and it really does only take one drop to cover my entire face with this product. The way that I personally use it is to put the drop into my palm and then gently press my hands together to spread the product out and then I just kind of pat it into my skin, avoiding the eye area and around the lips. Often times people think of "boosters" as products to add to other products, but I personally never do that because I want to ensure even application, so I just slap it right onto my face. The texture of this serum is quite lightweight, thicker than water but not quite like a gel, and it spreads really, really easily over the skin. One drop, that's it. I actually feel like more than that could possibly overwhelm my skin and I definitely feel like this is a less is more kind of a situation.
Initially upon application, I find that this serum has some serious tingle that verges on but doesn't quite make it to sting. If you're new to exfoliating acids, I suspect you'll want to start slow with this and not use it every night until your skin gets a little bit used to it, because it could end up being too much for your skin if you go too fast with this one - speaking from experience with other really active products. After maybe 5-10 minutes, the tingling goes away and there's really no trace of the product on my skin because it really does absorb.
When it comes to the results, I have to say that I've been really, really impressed with this serum. I've been using it every night for over a month and I've definitely seen a change in my skin. In fact, I'd say that I started seeing results within a few days as far as the overall hydration and bounciness of my skin, when I use it within an overall skin care routine designed to keep my skin balanced and hydrated. On the longer term, I feel like this has really improved the texture and appearance of my skin, giving everything a smoother, brighter look overall. In fact, since I've been using this, I've really found myself being drawn to lighter coverage base products in my makeup routine that let my skin show through a little bit more.
Honestly, you guys, I think this serum has officially become a Must Have in my skin care collection. It's an easy to use serum that I can personally reach for every night without fear of it being too much for my skin and it really does address the hydration and texture issues that are the most important things for my personal skin care routine. I also find the price point of $44CAD to be really, really reasonable for such an active, effective serum. Highly recommend! I'm personally very, very much interested in trying more of the skin care options from Flawless By Friday just based on how much this one has impressed me.
