MANI MONDAY: Beachy Pastel Neon #SummerNails

by - August 12, 2019

Happy Monday! This month's #CBBxManiMonday theme has been putting me through it a little bit, I'll admit. Essentially, the idea is that using the hashtag #summernails on Instagram, we look for inspiration from other nail artists to create our own mani's. Personally, I find myself scrolling and scrolling through absolutely beautiful nail art looking for something that I A) want to put on my nails, and B) feel like I can actually accomplish, which can be tricky. This week's inspiration actually came from two sources - this mani by Nails By Maya along with this mani by Nyasia Ruiz - and I sort of married elements from them to get something in my wheelhouse. I do genuinely like taking inspiration from other people's work and then putting my own spin on it and I'm super happy with how this mani turned out.

For my base shades, I used all Color Club polishes - their neons and pastel neons have been staples in my routine this summer. I applied two coats of Can You Not? (purple), Totally Worth It (pink), and Like A Boss (yellow) as my bases. On the plain nails, I finished with a coat of Sinful Colors Matte Top Coat.

For my accent nail, I decided to do a Sunburst Smoosh (find out how to do that technique here) using my three base colours along with Color Club Meet Me At The Rink (blue). This ended up giving me the perfect streaky sunset sky sort of look I was aiming for. I applied the decal using some foil glue (by far the easiest way to transfer a decal to the nail) and trimmed using a metal cuticle tool. Again, I applied a coat of Sinful Colors Matte Top Coat to take down the shine.

For the stamping, I reached for my trusty Bundle Monster (now Maniology) Festival Plates and used the palm tree image from BM-S303 along with my Maniology Straight Up Black Stamping Polish and my NailStuff.ca Clear Stamper. At the tip of the nail, I just swiped a little bit of my stamping polish to finish and voila!

As much as I'm finding myself eager for fall - it's about this time every year that I'm ready for rich fall colours, sweater weather, and wearing socks again - I'm still having an amazing time using neon polishes for my summer nail art. Honestly, I have SO MANY of these Color Club polishes and I never get sick of the things I can do with them. I highly, highly recommend.

Don't forget to head over to Cosmetic Proof, See The World In PINK, and Tea & Nail Polish to check out what their inspiration has been for this week's #CBBxManiMonday!
