MANI MONDAY: Moody Olive Magnetic Nail Art

by - November 11, 2019

Hey guys! For this week's #CBBxManiMonday, I sort of randomly got a burst of inspiration out of nowhere and just kind of threw it onto my nails. Admittedly, I'm already kind of in Christmas nails brain mode, but I'm trying to keep my nail art for this month from meandering into that zone. Also, me and the other girls from our #CBBxManiMonday crew kind of fell into the idea of Emo-November. And trust me... it's witch balls cold here in Winnipeg and the days feel so short that it's easy to get into that zone.

Anyway, without further ado, keep reading to see how I put this mani together!

I started with a generous coat of Essence Black Is Back as my base. It's a super pigmented black polish and dries really fast (and also, my favorite all time black polish seems to have mysteriously gone missing.) Once that was dry, I went in with two coats of BornPrettyStore Magnetic Polish in Fairbank Arts, using the magnet for each coat to get that cats eye stripe in the polish. I wasn't entirely sure where I was going to go next, so I actually just chilled out and admired the pretty shiftiness in this polish for a while before I continued.

For the stamping, I started with applying this sort of... mosaic image from the Nicole Diary L-10 Stamping Plate, which was JUST big enough for my nail length. I feel like it adds a really interesting texture that almost evokes a feeling of snakeskin when paired with this base. I also wanted to add what I like to think of as a coffin french tip. For this, I reached for the Nicole Diary L-04 Stamping Plate and used the thickest line images to get a really crisp line at the edges of the nails.

To finish, I applied a coat of Seche Vive Quick Dry Top Coat and voila!

I have to admit, I'm pretty damn in love with how these nails turned out. Everytime I use this polish, I want to basically buy all of the magnetic polishes out there because the effect they give is just so cool. And I really love the way the black stamping really grounds the look and gives an almost vampy effect.
