12 NAILS OF HALLOWEEN: Neon Rainbow Gradient Bat Nail Art

by - October 12, 2020

Is it weird that I wake up with nail art ideas in my head? One mani I've always loved is bats over a gradient base. I tried it out last year with these Alternating Gradient Bat Nails and I sort of thought I would end up with something similar this year... but then at some point in the night my brain decided that what I actually needed was to go all Lisa Frank for this mani with a neon gradient rainbow... because I guess there aren't enough rainbow Halloween manis? Anyway, I'm kind of obsessed with how it turned out - takes me right back to my childhood collection of neon sticker magic - and super excited to share it for Day 4 of 12 Nails Of Halloween/#CBBxManiMonday!

Keep reading to read how I did it!

I thought that I had put my Color Club neons away until next year, but turns out I was wrong so I busted them out again for this. I wanted to do a (mostly) full spectrum gradient so I ended up grabbing 5 shades to cover all of the nails. I started by painting the lighter of the two shades for each nail as my base - in this case, green for the pinkie, blue for the ring finger, pink for the middle finger, and coral for the pointer finger. You could go with a white base for this, but I tend to find clean up a little less crisp with a white base so I almost always go with the lightest shade, and it worked out perfectly for this mani for me. This is actually a super easy technique once you figure it out - just make sure you have a good supply of sponges on hand.

Once I was finished with the gradient, I decided that I wanted to add a flakie top coat so I grabbed Glam Polish Anuenue, which has enough rainbow gorgeousness in it that I knew it would work with all of the base colours, and applied one coat to all of my nails.

For the stamping, I went with the What's Up Nails B023 Creepin' It Real Stamping Plate along with their Neither Noir Stamping Polish and their Magnified Clear Stamper. I applied the same image to all of my nails, which I think really drove home the Lisa Frank vibes, and then crisped it up with a clean up brush dipped in acetone.

To finish, I sealed in my stamping with a water based top coat and then finished with a quick dry glossy top coat and voila!
