MANI MONDAY | Vampy Holo Gradient Skittle Nail Art

by - November 02, 2020

I have to admit, I think I have a bit of a Halloween hangover when it comes to doing my nails - 12 mani's in one month is a looooot, especially when I also did some swatching for posts that are coming up soon here on the blog, so even sitting down to do my nails at this point is feeling like a little much.  Luckily, our #CBBxManiMonday theme for this month is Whatever November - I think we all need a little bit of freedom to just do whatever we feel like on our nails this month before it's time to get fully back into themed nails. Anyway, I got this idea in my head to pair two of the new Color Club Collections - the Halo Jewels Collection, which I've already reviewed, and the She's So Vamp Collection, which I will be posting a Swatch & Review post for later this week - and I just had to do it.

The idea for this mani actually came about when I just had all of these polishes sitting on my desk and it occurred to me that most of the holos in the Halo Jewels Collection had a pretty solid pairing in the She's So Vamp Collection and it could make for a pretty cool créme to holo gradient mani. I actually considered choosing only one pairing an applying it to all of my nails, but ultimately I just couldn't choose so I went for a jewel-toned rainbow kind of a feel for this skittle mani.

Here are the pairings:
Rock On + Gloom And Doom
What A Gem + Creep It Real
Under Pressure + Born Wicked
That's Rich + Darker Than My Heart

To do this mani, I started with one coat of the créme shade on each nail - the crémes in the She's So Vamp collection are SUPER pigmented, so they really, really made a great base here. Once those base shades were completely dry, I went in with my gradient. To create the gradient, I applied my two polishes to a makeup sponge, about 1/3 holo and 2/3 créme, and then pounced onto the nail to get a nice blend. I ended up doing three layers just to bump up the intensity of the holo, but I think I probably could have easily gotten away with just two layers of the gradient.

To finish, I applied a generous coat of quick dry glossy top coat and voila!
