CHRISTMAS NAIL ART: Rich Blue & Silver Snowflakes Nails

by - December 05, 2020

When it comes to classic colour pairings for the holiday seasons, I would have to say that blue and silver are towards the top for me. I'm one of those people who likes to colour coordinate her Christmas tree and every year I think about getting all new decorations to shift my colour scheme from the gold and burgundy that I currently have to a rich blue and silver theme. Of course, I don't, and instead I like to do the pairing of blue and silver on my nails instead, so this time around I grabbed for one of my favorite blue polishes in my collection and some pretty snowflakey stamping and... did it up.

Diamond Rain by Starilly is one of their collab shades with Kelli Marissa and it's, in a word, absolutely perfect. (I mean, unless you don't have a steady hand because this baby is PIGMENTED, so be careful when you're applying it.) It's this deep, rich sapphire blue shade that is just packed full of holo flakes. Now, I will say that if you're looking for intense rainbows, this might not be the shade for you because in this base they end up just looking... well, exactly like in the pictures. It's stunning, with a beautiful texture (not a textured finish, just a look of texture because of the flakes) and depth. I'll stop with the novel about my love for this polish - you can see the pretty with your eyes.

Ahem, I applied two thin coats of Diamond Rain as my base (you could get away with one, but I prefer to be conservative rather than risk flooding my cuticles because, again, pigment.) For the stamping, I wanted to keep it really simple - so I used a pearl white stamping polish (like silver, but better, if you ask me...) and two different stamping plates from Whats Up Nails - because clearly two different stamping plates keeps it simple. Smh. For my first and pinkie fingers, I wanted to do small snowflakes but I didn't want to do a full coverage image, so I used this image from B035 and removed part of it with my lint roller before applying it diagonally on the nail, at the base on my first finger at the tip on my pinkie. For my middle two fingers I wanted full coverage and this sort of... almost lacy look? Anyway, I used the same image from B034 and flipped it so that they look a little bit different even though they're the same.

To finish, I sealed in the stamping with a layer of water based top coat and then followed with a generous coat of quick dry glossy top coat and voila!

Honestly, I feel like I could have put just about anything over this base and it would have been dreamy, dreamy perfection in my eyes. This base polish is just so gorgeous, I love it so much.

Anyway, before I gush forever over my love for Diamond Rain, let's wrap this up, shall we? Be sure to come back every day until Christmas Eve for more festive Holiday/Winter themed nail art! And give me a follow over at @pblnails if you want to see all of my video tutorials!
