NAIL ART: Unpolished Marble Granite Nails ft. Picture Polish Winter

by - January 18, 2021

With these month's non-theme theme for #CBBxManiMonday being untried polishes, it seems only fitting that one week has to feature a polish from Picture Polish - a brand that went far too long untried for me. I honestly don't know how I never picked up any of their polishes until this past month, but I finally pulled the trigger and picked up three and I know that I'll be making another order for more soon. (As in, I already have a handful in my cart ready to pull the trigger but I'm trying to make smart buying decisions by choosing shades that will be good for spring!)

Anyway, without further ado, keep reading to see how I did this mani!

I am so, so glad that I picked up the shade Winter, because it's beautiful on its own but I know it will also make a great base for all kinds of nail art since it has such depth and that really nice texture of those holo flakes. Admittedly, the flakes do lose all of the holo when you matte them down like I did for this mani, but I actually think that they end up having a really cool look of texture to them that way as well. For this mani, I applied two coats of Winter as my base.

One thing that I think is true with stamped marble manis is that you can really easily overwork them and get a messy, muddy result, so for this mani I really wanted to keep it super simple and clean. I started with the Whats Up Nails B059 Thirsty Texture stamping plate because it has two images that I thought would pair really well for this mani and then grabbed a pearl white stamping polish (which acts like silver but is easier to work with and gives a better result, in my opinion) along with a black stamping polish. As I tend to do in order to create some visual interest and keep the nails from all looking the same, I alternated the direction that I applied the images on the nails to break things up.

Once I was happy with my stamping, I sealed it in with a water based top coat and then followed with a matte top coat to take down the shine and really give that unpolished stone look. And voila!

Obsessed. I'm obsessed. I swear, I suspect that maybe I never tried out Picture Polish because I knew that I'd fall in love with their formula and just need to have every shade in my life. I have a feeling I'm about to start collecting just based on the three I've picked up so far.

Be sure to head over to Cosmetic Proof and See The World In PINK for more nail art this week!
