NAIL ART: Swirling Jewel Toned Ombré Stamping Nails

by - March 09, 2021

I really, really want to start doing more nail art challenges because I'm having such a good time with the prompts from the Whats Up Nails March Nail Art Challenge. The second prompt for the month is Ombré Stamping and since that's actually not something I do all that often, I'm having a good time digging down into my stamping polishes to get some really pretty gradients. I'm kind of obsessed with this mani, you guys. Like literally, I keep pausing typing just to look down at it in person....

Like so many other polish lovers, I've had my eye on Polish Pickup for a while now, but I've always resisted... until last month. Last month I was finally like I'M GOING TO DO IT. And I did. One of the polishes that I picked up is from Alchemy Lacquers, an indie brand that was entirely new to me, and I just absolutely had to have it. Dreamland Sunset is this really beautiful lavender crelly polish packed with shifting flakes, inspired by the maker's trip to Bali. I just... fell completely in love with it and had to have it. For this mani, I wanted a really dense, opaque base so I went with three coats (but I do really love the slightly see through look of two coats.)

The inspiration for this entire mani was actually that I really wanted to use these three stamping polishes that I got a few months ago from H La Cosedora and that I'm pretty sure I haven't actually used in a mani yet. They're all metallic and in these really rich jewel tones that I thought would blend really beautifully together and create a really lovely gradient. I decided to pair them with this sort of swirling image from Whats Up Nails B039 because it seemed like a really good image to pair the ombre stamping with. I slightly changed up each nail by flipping either the order I applied the polish to the image as well as the image itself when I applied to the nail and I think the subtle differences really amp up this mani.

Once I was finished my stamping, I sealed it all in with a water based top coat and then finished with a quick dry glossy top coat for shine and volume and voila!
