I feel fairly confident that the first real nail art design I ever did for the blog was a really simple graveyard design that has become sort of a classic, and as the years have gone by I've continued to do a lot of different graveyard designs with increasing complexity. One of my personal favorite styles of graveyard nails is a layered design so that you almost get that look of depth and mistiness through it. Even though I did a mani very, very similar to this one last year, I decided that I wanted to recreate it with a few key differences this year because... well, mostly just because I love this design and I can do whatever I want. I mean, if we're being honest and all.

I am definitely having a moment with floral nails right now - partially because my mind and body are just fully and completely ready for spring (and maybe bracing in hopes that we don't end up with the kind of late season blizzard that isn't all that uncommon here in the beginning of April) and partially because I'm sort of in love with the new Whats Up Nails B074 A Flower A Day Stamping Plate*. It's such a great combination of Easter images (which will definitely pop up soon in Easter themed mani's) and really gorgeous floral images that I just love. Obviously I had to put together a spring mani featuring this really gorgeous daffodil image, right??

Lately I've definitely felt really inspired to create layered stamping designs, using combinations of small images to fill the nail and create various abstract and graphic designs. It occurred to me over the weekend, though, that it could be cool to try doing something like that using full coverage images in a sort of patchwork style design. I'll definitely admit that I sort of winged it on this one using a new-to-me stamping plate as well as a stunning polish that I recently picked up from PPU, but I'm actually really thrilled with how it turned out.

I don't know if this is true for other people, but I very much have a thing in my brain that decides certain things go a certain way and it's pretty rigid. (Just ask my partner about my thoughts on loading the dishwasher, specifically the direction that the forks are supposed to face...) But anyway, that definitely extends to nail art and I tend to feel like certain themes very much belong in certain seasons. For me, oceany or beachy or watery type of designs definitely belong firmly in the summer (unless they're rain themed, which belongs in the spring.) Luckily, my brain has switched into summer nail art mode pretty firmly over here, so this one sort of flowed - pun sort of intended.

Man, I love a theme. Honestly, I'm kind of amazed that I haven't jumped on every possible holiday I could to create themed nail art - in fact, I'm kind of shooken that I missed St Patrick's Day, but... it happens. Anyway, Easter is a great theme for a few pretty obvious reasons. Pastels are great for nails. Honestly, I get SO EXCITED for pastel season because I just love working with them, I love the manis that I create with them, and I feel like they're really universally flattering. Also, bunnies are adorable and easter eggs are... a treasure trove of design possibilities. Anyway, I love a theme and I am going to ride this theme into the ground possibly... but here is my first 2021 Easter themed mani!
