HALLOWEEN NAIL ART: Lacy Black Spiderwebs French Mani

by - October 21, 2021

Today's Halloween nail design is one that I conjured in my mind weeks before I was actually able to do it, because I was waiting for the stamping plate to arrive, but I literally knew exactly what it was going to look like and what I was going to use to get the look for ages. Sometimes, I will admit, that situation doesn't work out the way that I might have hoped, but in the case I'm really happy with the end result and it really is exactly what I had in mind when I conceived it. It also walks a really interesting line between being both super simple and also really intricate.

Honestly, as soon as I saw spoilers for Girly Bits' Tale As Old As Time on the Project Artistry Facebook group, I got grabby hands and knew that I would be ordering it. This polish is described as a soft taupey grey base with a strong pink to gold shifting aurora shimmer, blue color shifting iridescent flakes, and subtle holographic flakes sprinkled throughout and... yep. It's such an interesting polish because it really is super soft and delicate, but it has all of these elements that also make it really unique and interesting. I'm actually thrilled that the intricacy of the formula really did pick up in the photos, especially that gorgeous aurora shift coming through. I'm bummed that it was LE so I can't recommend picking it up, but

For this mani, I applied two coats of Tale As Old As Time to all of my nails.

Did I order the KADS Halloween 008 100% with this mani in mind? Yes. Yes, I did. And I have no shame for that fact. I actually think this is kind of a brilliant stamping plate because even with it's small size, they've really packed a lot of versatility and options for cohesive designs into it. This delicate, lacy image was really the one that sang to me though and I really, REALLY couldn't wait to get it on my nails. The way I did it was really, really simple. I started with the basic French mani image and applied it to all of my nails in black stamping polish. If you're going to try this, make sure you use a good one, like the Whats Up Nails Neither Noir Stamping Polish, and scrape with a light pressure so that you get a solid pickup. Next, I went in with the curved, lacy, dangling spiderweb image and applied it right at the base of the French image to get a really crisp, seamless design.

Once I was happy with my stamping, I applied a nail art top coat to seal it in and then followed with a quick dry glossy top coat to really pop the design and add shine and volume. And voila!

I'm so obsessed with how this mani turned out - literally exactly the way I pictured it in my mind - and I both the base polish and the stamping plate have supermuch impressed me. Honestly, I feel like I really need to spend some more time with Girly Bits because all of the polishes I've tried from them have been absolutely beautiful and they're such a longstanding Canadian indie that they definitely deserve a lot of love.
