NAIL ART: Soft Taupe & Gold Graphic Botanical Nails

by - November 01, 2021

Well... it definitely feels weird to shift away from Halloween themed everything and back into normalish life, especially after 31 straight days of Halloween nails. Admittedly, my inspiration well was a little bit dry after that marathon, so I did need to look for some outside inspiration for this week's Fall Colors themed #CBBxManiMonday. Today's mani was heavily, heavily inspired by a design straight from the KADS Instagram page that I immediately fell in love with and decided to put my own very minute spin on. It's actually a pretty simple design and the color story I went with keeps it quite soft, but I still think it packs some serious impact.

I recently treated myself to a few new-to-me polishes from ILNP to celebrate a bit of a personal milestone and one of them, which had been at the top of my wishlist for a while now, was Sandcastle. This polish is described as a sandy beige with holographic microflakes and an assortment of copper and gold microflakes ranging in size. Entirely unsurprising, this polish is STUNNING and I am absolutely beyond thrilled to have it in my collection - I suspect that it'll get a lot of use in coming months.

For this mani, I applied two coats of Sandcastle to all of my nails. It's pretty sheer on that first coat - although quite even and I think it would make a beautiful sheer worn like that - but I got really beautiful full opacity on that second coat.

For the stamping, I used the KADS Fashion 078 Stamping Plate, which features 8 full cover images along with a really cool selection of really modern smaller images that you can use to really build out a more abstract mani. Working directly from the mani that inspired this one, I alternated two different full coverage images in a champagne gold stamping polish that I felt really complimented the flakes in the base polish. Next, I added the black botanical accents, choosing different placement on each nail so that each nail was distinct but everything still felt cohesive.

Once I was happy with my stamping, I sealed it in with a layer of nail art top coat and then finished with a generous layer of glossy top coat. And voila!

In fact, I have to give huge kudos to KADS on their social media presence because the do an incredible job of showing a lot of different things that you can do with their stamping plates, but in a way that makes it really easy to put your own spin on it.
