NAIL ART: Cool Toned Squiggly Abstract Nails

THIS POST IS IN PARTNERSHIP WITH PUEEN COSMETICS.

For today's post I've partnered up with Pueen Cosmetics and I got to play with some seriously gorgeous stamping products to create today's mani. Recently I've definitely been drawn to really graphic, abstract designs with layered stamping, so it's really no surprise that that's the first place my mind went when I was looking through the products that they sent over for me to try out.

Keep reading for more!

After swatching all of the Pueen stamping polishes that I had to try out, I knew that I would be starting out with a very me color combination of pink/purple/blue, so when I was choosing my base I kept that in mind. I ended up going with ILNP's Cake Pop, which is a sort of warm ivory crelly base with really pretty red, green, purple and copper flakes that I thought would work really well with the stamping polishes I was going for because the base sort of keeps them a little bit muted.

For this mani, I started by applying two coats of Cake Pop to all of my nails as my base. Then, as usual, I applied the Pueen Latex Cuticle Barrier* to all of my nails to make clean up a little easier. This is a product that I've been using for years now and is an absolute must have in my nail art arsenal. A thin coat around my cuticles makes clean up from stamping and other messy nail art techniques a lot easier and this particular one peels really smoothly as well.

As soon as I saw this sort of chunky squiggly image from the Pueen French 01 Stamping Plate*, this mani started percolating in my mind. I knew that I wanted to layer this image in a few different colors to get a really simple but impactful graphic look. I started by applying the image in Sweet Pink* and then in Baby Blue*, playing with the direction and placement to get a different look for each nail. I decided to apply two of the Charmed Lilac* squiggles because it felt a little bit more bold and grounded the look a little bit with that contrast.

Once I was happy with my stamping, I sealed it in with a nail art top coat and then finished with a glossy top coat for shine and volume. And voila!

I have to say, I'm definitely kicking myself for sleeping on trying out the Pueen stamping polishes because they are gorgeous and the formula performs so incredibly beautifully. I'm so impressed with the pickup both for this mani and for the swatches that I did of all of the shades I got to try out. Definitely keep an eye out for more mani's featuring Pueen products coming up in the near future!
