NAIL ART: Lavender & Rose Gold Abstract Nails

by - February 24, 2023

Hey guys! So admittedly, I actually didn't realize until about 9 o'clock last night that I didn't have any nails to post today, so this one was a little bit thrown together at the last minute, but I'm actually really sort of in love with how they turned out. I absolutely love a sort of mix and match abstract stamping plate and I've been really, really loving the Whats Up Nails A026 All Lined Up Stamping Plate* ever since they kindly sent it over to me, so I decided to pull it out and just try something pretty simple overall since it was a sort of last minute, unplanned design. Honestly, this plate is just great for that!

So the color story from this mani really did come from the base polish, which is actually a bit of a no-brainer in my collection if I want to use a soft purple base color. Unwind from Cuticula was from one of the indie collabs - I think it was PPU? - and as soon as I saw swatches of this soft purple shade packed with rose gold metallic flakes I absolutely HAD to have it. To go along with unwind, I decided to keep it super simple with three stamping polishes in rose gold (a little bit of a warmer tone than the flakes in the base polish), black and white.

To start, I applied two coats of Unwind to all of my nails and let those dry down.

For the stamping design, I decided that I wanted to keep everything feeling sort of light weight and delicate, if that makes sense. In the rose gold polish, I used the same stamping sort of squiggly line image on all of my nails, changing the direction and placement from nail to nail so that it isn't immediately apparent that it's the same image. In the white stamping polish, I went in with three different leaf images as well as this sort of sqiggly loop image on my pinkie and first fingers. Again, with the white images, I played around with the placement and direction to keep it interesting. And finally, because there were a few spots that felt a little sparse and bare, I went in with some little irregular splotch images in black just at one or two corners of each nail.

Once I was happy with the design, I sealed everything in with a nail art top coat before finishing with a generous layer of glossy top coat for shine. And voila!

Seriously, this type of sort of layered, random abstract type of design is one of my personal favorites these days and I love those plates in my collection that I can just pull out to quickly throw together a mani when I'm in a hurry. There are a few of those plates in my collection and the plate I used for this mani has really quickly risen to the top of those ranks - Highly recommend!
