NAIL ART: Shades Of Pink Valentine's Heart Nails

by - February 08, 2023

THIS POST IS IN PARTNERSHIP WITH PUEEN COSMETICS.

I am, admittedly, not  much of a pink girl in general, but then Valentine's Day rolls around and my brain immediately goes straight into full on theme mode and suddenly I want to throw pink and hearts and cuteness at my nails like the girliest girl. For this mani, I really sort of went all in with two different shades of pink and what might be the most unabashed hearts stamping image in my collection - because why not, right?

Keep reading for more!

If I'm going pair two different polishes as full cover bases for the same mani, I have one hard and fast rule that I'm pretty sure I've never broken and that's that they have to have the same finish. There's something that just doesn't feel quite right when I pair polishes that don't. Luckily, Sinful Colors put out a collection last year that not only features the same finish, but the same flakes in different base polishes and it contained two distinctly different pink shades - perfect!

Ultimately I decided to just alternate the two pinks just to sort of break up the design a little. These are pretty sheer polishes and I didn't want to have too much visible nail line, so I did end up doing three coats of each to get coverage.

For the stamping, I went with one of my favorite heart stamping images in my collection, which is from the Pueen Nail Party 03 Stamping Plate*. There's just something about the scale and shape of these hearts that I just absolutely love so I knew I definitely had to go with this image for a Valentine's Day mani this year. I decided to break up the image, as I've come to really enjoy doing, on two of the nails and then place the full image on the rest. On my two middle fingers as well as my thumb, I applied the full image like usual using a white stamping polish. For my pointer and pinkie fingers I decided to do a sort of angled design at the tip. To do this, I decided which corner of the image I wanted to use for each finger and then picked up only that part and I used my scraper to remove any little bits that got picked up that I didn't want - the swipe can sometimes move your polish around, but it's easy enough to just remove those bits before you transfer your image.

Once I was happy with my stamping, I sealed in the design with a nail art top coat and then finished with a generous layer of glossy top coat for shine and volume. And voila!

Honestly, I'm so thrilled with how this mani turned out. I just absolutely love this stamping image and I feel like it's the perfect type of image to break up and use in different ways, which has definitely been something I've been playing around with a lot lately. Definitely recommend checking out this plate. I'm not sure if it's still available, but they did have a Stamping Kit that featured this plate, black and white stamping polishes, and a stamper and it really was quite a good value. Take a look on Amazon if you're interested in trying any of these Pueen products out!
