NAIL ART: Grey & Bright Reflective Graphic Nails

by - July 10, 2023

When I first saw the KADS Fashion 100 Stamping Plate*, there were definitely a few different designs that immediately jumped to mind, but the one I was most excited to try featured this graphic corner image that I knew would make a really lovely design. I actually tried a different version of this mani all in black and white and it just didn't have the punch I was looking for, which is what inspired this version. I love pairing grey with brights because it always has so much impact, so I went with it.

I decided to use KADS Arctic Twilight* as my base for this mani. It's a charcoal grey jelly base packed with silver reflective glitters and it is  just beautiful, in my opinion. Because it's VERY sheer, I started with one coat of Polished For Days' Soft Focus Snow, which is a somewhat sheer white base coat intended to act as an undie. Next, I went in with two coats of Arctic Twilight on all of my nails and let those dry down.

Obviously I had to get a photo of this mani with flash to really show the punch of the reflective glitters in this polish and it's just... alksjfa. I'm actually not a huge reflective glitter fan generally, but there is no denying how much punch and pop they have when they hit the right light. Also, while this polish does dry down with some texture, as I've found all of the reflective glitter polishes I've tried do, I was able to get a smooth finish with just regular top coat and I didn't have to bring in a glitter smoother.

For the stamping, I decided to go with three bright shades for this one - a peachy coral that ended up pulling quite pink over this base, a pastel neon acid green, and a bright neon purple. Because I only wanted two colors on each nail, I decided to create the pattern across my hands by carrying the polish at the tip of my nail onto the the base of the next nail, starting with my thumb and moving towards my pinkie. I find thinking of it in these terms makes getting a balanced design much easier to do.

Once I was happy with my stamping, I sealed everything in with a nail art top coat and then finished with a generous layer of quick dry glossy top coat. And voila!
