NAIL ART: Minimalist Cable Knit Fall Skittle Mani

by - September 20, 2023

THIS POST IS IN PARTERSHIP WITH PUEEN COSMETICS.

One thing that is eternally true about me is that I LOVE a seasonal skittle mani. It's one of those styles of nail art that has all of the versatility in the world to allow you to customize and really drive home  a seasonal vibe. For this year's fall skittle, I decided to go really minimal with some simple white stamping and a color story that I definitely think feels very, very fall.

I actually spent quite a lot of time deciding on the colors for this mani. I didn't want to go full on pumpkin spice with the palette, so I skipped the burnt orange and red shades and instead went with a wider spectrum. I started with a warm butterscotch shade for the pinkie, a rich olive green for the ring finger, a blackened burgundy for the middle finger, a sort of smoky blue for the pointer finger, and finally an ashy purple for the thumb (not pictured.)

I applied two coats of each polish to my nails and let those dry.

I really, really wanted to keep the nail art aspect of this mani really simple. I started by using the Pueen 104 Stamping Plate, which features this really great cable knit image. While the image is full coverage, I decided to only use one strand of the image for each nail, applying it at an angle and alternating between applying it towards the base and tip of the nail. Once my stamping was applied, I went in with a dotting tool and added a cluster of dots to each nail at the corner opposite the stamping.

Once I was happy with my design, I sealed it in with a nail art top coat and then followed with a matte top coat to bring down the shine. And voila!
