CHRISTMAS NAIL ART: Cozy Pink & Grey Argyle Reindeer Nails

by - December 18, 2023

I can not even tell you how excited I was to get today's mani on my nails, I sincerely can't. As soon as I received the CjS-324 Stamping Plate, which was included in a Mystery Box, I was beyond excited to put together some version of this design. I initially planned on going with a more traditional red, green and white color story, but in the end I was in the mood for something a little more cozy. One of my favorite cozy color combos - not just for my nails - is pink and grey and I think it worked perfectly with this design.

When it came to choosing my base polish, I knew pretty much immediately once I'd decided on pink and grey for the color story that I wanted to grab for Seven Wonders Of OPI, which is a cool toned pinky mauve shade that is, in my opinion, the perfect grown up pink. In the end, I decided that I wanted my pinkie and thumb to be grey because I figured it would add something. I didn't have a shade of grey in my collection that felt like it would match in the way I wanted to with the grey stamping polishes I was using, so I decided to apply stamping polish as my base on those two nails. I generally don't like to use stamping polish as full cover polish, but sometimes the design calls for it.

I started by applying two coats of my base polish to all of my nails and letting that dry down. I also added a cool toned iridescent flakie topper to all of my nails just to add a little bit of twinkle.

For the stamping, I ultimately decided that I wanted three distinctly different designs. On my outer nails, I kept it simple with a full cover scattered snowflake image, alternating the direction of placement just to keep each nail looking a bit unique. For my middle finger, I went with the layered argyle design using light grey, dark grey, and white stamping polishes. And finally, for my ring finger, I started with a full cover spotted snowflake image and then went in with the layered argyle reindeer image using the same polishes that I used for my middle finger.

Once I was happy with the design, I sealed everything in with a nail art top coat and then finished with a layer of glossy top coat for shine. And voila!
