CHRISTMAS NAIL ART: Festive Abstract Botanical Holiday Nails
THIS POST IS IN PARTNERSHIP WITH PUEEN COSMETICS.
When I started plotting out my ideas for this year's marathon of Christmas nail art, a lot of the designs I was drawn to were the more abstract designs that have become so popular in the last couple of years. As much as I love the more on-the-nose Christmas designs, I think there's definitely something to be said for a more blobby abstract design at this time of year as well. For this mani, I decided to grab for the Pueen Accent Fun 01 Stamping Plate a really bold holiday color palette!

For this mani, there were three different bases that I had to apply before moving onto the actual nail art. For my pointer finger, I applied 2 coats of my red shade. To my pinkie and thumb, I applied two coats of my green shade. And to my two middle fingers, which would be carrying the nail art, I created a nude jelly sandwich base. I started with one layer of my favorite sheer nude shade, then I added one layer of a flakie topper, and finally I finished with one more layer of my sheer nude. This creates a a perfect sheer nude base with just a little bit of something special from that topper and a good amount of camouflage for my natural nail.
Now for the nail art! I started by sort of randomly applying blobs of red, green and gold to my nail. I did try to be mindful of cohesive, balanced placement, but I really did just sort of slap it on and hope for the best. Next, I went in with my stamping using Pueen's Accent Fun 01 Stamping Plate* and 806 Pure White Stamping Polish. I applied the same botanical image to each of my middle two nails, swapping the direction and placement of the image on each nail. Next, using that same stamping polish and a small nail art brush, I added some little clusters of small swipes, just to add some more texture and interest.
Finally, once I was happy with the design, I sealed everything in with a nail art top coat and then finishe with a generous layer of glossy top coat for shine and volume. And voila!

I'm honestly kind of obsessed with how this turned out. It can be a little bit hit and miss when you're just sort of slapping on blobs of polish, but because this is such a specific theme and color story, I feel like it came together perfectly. If you're interested in any of the Pueen products I used for this mani, they all get my stamp of approval and are available from Amazon!
Check back every weekday in December for new Holiday/Christmas themed nails and be sure to head over to @pblnails for video tutorials for every single one of the designs I post here. And who knows, maybe some bonus mani's as well!
