When it comes to Christmasy nails, I feel like it's really easy to go all in with your traditional Christmas designs and colors, but I always like to also do some more modern designs as well. Today's mani was actually inspired by a set of nail wraps I saw listed somewhere online. I apologise - I can't remember the site. In the end, I decided to go with a speckled green base rather than the nude base that the inspiration design had, and I personally think it makes for a beautiful, very modern take on Christmas nails.

I wanted to keep the color story for this mani quite simple, with black and white stamping really grounding the design. I knew I wanted to use a speckled polish for the base of this design because I felt like it would add a very subtle texture to the background, so I grabbed for Cirque Colors' Paloma. Paloma is a sage green créme base with fine black specks and I felt that both the shade and the texture would really bring that modernity that I was looking for.

I started by applying two coats of Paloma to all of my nails and letting that dry down.

For the stamping, I decided to use the Clear Jelly Stamper CJS-C44 stamping plate, which features several different Christmas trees at the proper scale for this sort of scattered vibe. I ended up using a bunch of different trees for this design and I played with the placement to ensure that each nail really looked completely different from the rest. I also utilized some of the layered designs in order to add some texture and visual interest as well as the little cluster of dots and stars to help fill in some of the more bare spots on the design.

Once I was happy with my stamping, I sealed everything in with a nail art top coat and then finished with a layer of matte top coat to bring down the shine - and, in my opinion, add that last little hit of modernity to the design. And voila!

I honestly couldn't be happier with how this mani ended up coming together. These Christmas tree designs were just perfect to create this look and I really think that there's something to be said for this clean lined, modern, very slightly abstract Christmas tree design. Also, it just feels very much like me - which is great when we're in such a distinct theme.
