I must say, I'm still pretty neck deep in a bit of a January fog and definitely lacking in both energy and inspiration just in general, not just with my nails. That being said, I got some new PR goodies from Born Pretty last week and there were definitely some items that I was really excited to play around with. For today's mani, I used two of those new products to create a really quick and easy gel mani that is incredibly beginner friendly - and cute, to boot!

There is, I think, something to be said for grey in January and I think that's why I chose this particular base polish. This is shade CG059* from Born Pretty's Silky White Gel Series. This is definitely a true sort of concrete grey shade, which I think is very chic and modern - especially when worn matte. I really like the Silky White Gel formula - it's creamy and easy to apply and has always cured really smoothly for me.

I applied two coats of CG059 to all of my nails, curing for 60 seconds after each coat. 

Next is the real star of this mani, which is the Liner Paint Gel in this gorgeous chrome. I have never really managed to get entirely comfortable with chrome powders and have failed more times than I've succeeded when using it, so I was definitely interested to get a chrome look from a gel polish. This particular one comes with a liner brush, which makes it really easy to apply nail art. 

I started by applying my matte gel top coat to all of my nails and curing for 60 seconds since I knew I wasn't going to want to apply top coat after the chrome gel. Next, I just went in with a sort of free form swoop and cured after each nail. I will say - be sure to use very thin layers when applying this because, like with a really pigmented black gel polish, if your layer is too thick it won't cure properly and will definitely make a mess. I definitely learned this the hard way.

I love love love this grey polish as a base for nail art and I can already think of a great mani different ways I could play around with the chrome liner gel as well.
