NAIL ART: Creamy Coffee Abstract Cat Eye Gel Nails

by - January 22, 2024

Being that my creativity has been feeling a bit sapped recently, I've been a little less active here on the blog, but I'm hoping that with the days getting longer I'll be feeling a bit more inspired and start posting a bit more frequently again. For today's mani, I kept it pretty simple with a style of mani that I personally really, really love. I paired some super exciting new gel polish with monochromatic abstract stamping and I love it!

I have already very much established that I really, really love cat eye gel polishes. They're just so stunning with that beautiful movement and shine and I just can't get enough. I actually did a couple of different cat eye gel mani's on friends and family over the holidays and they loved them as well. All of this to say that when I saw that Born Pretty had released their new Moonlight Cat Magnetic Gel Polish*, I just had to try it. I only ended up choosing one shade, but much like the Sea Blue Cat Magnetic polishes from them I suspect I'll be ordering more.

The shade I chose is MC03 and it's this really pretty beige shade that leans just a bit brown - hence the creamy coffee title for this mani - and it's gorgeous. I applied two coats, magnetizing and curing for 60 seconds between coats, to get this level of opacity. It isn't quite full opaque, but the shimmers in the formula really, really help to hide that visible nail line at most angles.

For the stamping, I grabbed for my much loved Whats Up Nails A026 All Lined Up Stamping Plate as well as their stamping polishes in Blanc My Mind and You Mocha Me Happy to apply my designs. I ended up using three different images to create this mani - a swirly line image, a blobby image, and an image that combines swirly lines and blobs. I applied the images towards the corners of my nails and kept each nail different by choosing my placement wisely.

Once I was happy with my stamping, I applied a gel top coat and cured for 60 seconds and voila! One nice thing about pairing gel polish and stamping is definitely the fact that gel top coat doesn't smudge your stamping!

It's really so difficult to capture the gorgeous look of cat eye gel in pictures, but let me assure you that it's absolutely stunning. I could stand under the light in my back hall for hours just wiggling my fingers around and watching it move. Gorgeous!
