I have to admit, I don't actually remember the last time I bought a pressed powder that wasn't one of those really finely-milled, super lightweight, translucent powders to set my undereye concealer. Over this past summer, though, as I pretty much entirely stopped wearing foundation and instead just used a very lightly tinted sunscreen, I wanted to find a powder that would add a bare bit of coverage and give me a really smooth, slightly blurred look. I don't actually remember whose review I saw of the Covergirl Clean Fresh Healthy Look Pressed Powder on Youtube, but it inspired me to pick it up and give it a go.

I have to admit - and I seem to start a lot of my posts with admissions, don't I? - that what tends to get me excited in the makeup game is usually pretty neutrals. That being said, I was finding myself a little bit uninspired lately when it came to makeup. As much as I've been loving a lot of new releases, I've been finding that there hasn't really been anything coming out that's really exciting and different for me. So, of course, being that I've loved the other palettes in this collection, I decided to step a little bit outside of my comfort zone and pick up the CoverGirl TruNaked Dazed Palette when I saw it on the shelf. It's different, bringing bright, vibrant colours that I wouldn't necessarily normally grab for. What better time than summer, right?

Admittedly, I haven't been much for matte foundations recently and I've skipped a lot of the more matte or high coverage options that have been released in the drugstore in the past year. However, CoverGirl foundations have worked out so well for me over the past 5 years or so that when they released the CoverGirl TruBlend Matte Made Foundation, I couldn't resist picking it up and giving it a try. Of course, it also didn't hurt that by current drugstore standards, this is actually a really, really affordable foundation either. I've been testing this out for a few weeks now, because I really wanted to be able to give a comprehensive review, and I'm ready to give you guys my thoughts!

I always say that I'm not going to buy any more highlighter palettes, I really do. But recently while I was looking at the displays of new CoverGirl products, I saw the CoverGirl TruBlend Super Stunner Highlighter Palette and I really couldn't resist. Until fairly recently, highlighter options in the drugstore were pretty slim - and pretty glittery - so I'm super excited to see some more options coming out because I'm always looking for drugstore products that rival my higher end products.

I have to admit that I have a type. Don't we all, though? While I 100% recognize that what my makeup collection needs is variety, I can't help but feel compelled to basically pick up every palette that is in that ABH Modern Renaissance type of vibe - especially in the drugstore. It's basically the new Naked palette, with dupes coming out a lot recently. The latest into the fold is the CoverGirl TruNaked Sunsets Palette and I tried to resist it, I really did, but there was just no stopping me once I picked up the Peach Punch Palette and remembered just how much I enjoy the CoverGirl TruNaked eyeshadow formula.

More and more, we're finally seeing drugstore brands releasing larger palettes and I really feel like it's the right time because we're also seeing huge improvements in more affordable eyeshadow formulas. Very recently, CoverGirl released two new palettes - both of them scented - and I decided without question to pick up the CoverGirl TruNaked Peach Punch Palette. I'd only ever tried one of the TruNaked palettes before, The Goldens, and I was really overall impressed with both the curation and the formula so it was a no brainer that I'd want to try out this one.

If you're like me, you might have a list of products on your Wish List that have been out for a while but you've never gotten around to picking up. The Covergirl TruNaked Eyeshadow Palettes - available in Nudes, Goldens, Roses and, most recently Jewels - have been out for a minute and I've looked at them in stores a lot of times but hadn't ever pulled the trigger on picking them up. In retrospect, I feel like this has is my M.O. when it comes to eyeshadow palettes, because I want them to be tried and true by others before I pick them up. Anyway, I finally decided to go for it and pick up the Goldens Palette, because I've a huge fan of an olive green eye look and I actually felt like I didn't have much in my collection in that tone.

For a long time, liquid eyeliner was a bit of a mystery to me. I mean, I looked at how it looked on other people with awe and watched people try to teach me how to apply it with absolute confusion. What I've learned is that it takes practice to get to a place where your skills aren't a meme waiting to happen - but don't worry, we all go through the meme stage. Another thing that I've found is that you have to try different applicator styles to really see which ones are going to work for you. Recently, I've had the opportunity to try out the CoverGirl Intensify Me by Lashblast Liquid Liner in Sapphire*, which has a pretty interesting applicator, and I'm ready to review it for you guys!

Over the past several years, I feel like CoverGirl has firmly taken the mantle of being the best brand at the drugstore for solidly good mascaras. It started with the original Lash Blast and they've just been building on it for years. I haven't loved every mascara CoverGirl has put out, but I've definitely got my favorites - and I think that's true for a lot of people. The newest addition to the CoverGirl mascara lineup is the So Lashy! Blast Pro Mascara* and as soon as I saw the completely insane brush, I was 100% in to try it out.

Surprise! Today I've got another Covergirl foundation to review for you guys. This time around it's the Covergirl + Olay Simply Ageless 3-in-1 Liquid Foundation*. Considering how much I loved the Covergirl Clean Matte BB Cream, this has a lot to live up to. Now, the Simply Ageless line has been around for quite a while, but I'll admit that I hadn't actually ever tried any of it until now, but I actually did pick up the Simply Ageless Serum Primer recently - it's very possible that it's  being discontinued and replaced with the new Simply Ageless Foundation Primer - so I figured it was a good time to try both products together.

So, even though I wouldn't exactly call myself a Katy Perry fan - not that I dislike her, I just really feel neither here nor there about her in general - I was pretty excited for the release of her new COVERGIRL collaboration, the Kitty Kat Matte lipsticks. I actually really love the shade selection in the line, which includes all of the usual wearable shades as well as the fun brights and deep vampy shades that you would expect from a collab with Ms. Perry. It would have been reason easy to go a little bit mad with power and pick up several shades, but I decided to hold off and see how I liked the formula before I went all in. I'm trying this thing where I don't go mad with excitement before I know if I like something! Anyway, I chose a shade I knew I'd wear, a simple pinky nude called Sphynx.

Admittedly, I'm going a little bit hard with the Favorites post this year - there will be a total of 10 when all is said and done, but I really wanted to take some time and really talk to you guys about the products that I've absolutely loved over the last year. For me, the criteria of the favorites are that they are the things that I love enough to withstand the new and shiny. Since there are always new products coming out and I'm always trying out new things to review here on the blog, the products that really stand up and endure and have me reaching for them consistently.

The first of these neverending favorites posts had to be my face products - not to be confused with cheek products, which will come later. These are the top 5 base products in my collection that I've been absolutely loving, so keep reading to take a closer look!

I feel like I've had such great luck with the Lashblast mascaras in the past. My absolute favorite is the Clump Crusher, because I feel like it gives me those full, fluttery lashes that I love so much. Sometimes it might take a little bit of building, but the great thing about the combination of that formula and the brush is that you actually can build it up without it getting clumpy or spidery. Now, enter a new addition to the Lashblast family of mascaras: Full Lash Bloom. Now, obviously, this brings to mind the idea of those full, fluttery lashes that I've always wanted to actually have. Has anyone ever noticed that men always seem to have those kinds of lashes? I am pretty much in complete fits of envy every time I look at my boyfriend's lashes and think to myself, "Why not me?????" Anyway. I had a coupon for $3 off this mascara and I figured it was definitely worth a try, if only because I was dreaming of those full, pretty, soft blooming lashes.

I featured this foundation in my November Favorites, before I had gotten around to reviewing it, but I still felt like this needed a review. Even if there's no surprise left as to whether or not I liked it. I love it. And I am very, very surprised by that. I'm pretty picky when it comes to foundation and it's hard to surpass the foundations that I've had a longtime love for, but sometimes I venture into uncharted territory and give a new one a chance and they blow my mind. That's where I'm at with this one. And with a retail price of $7.99 (and often on sale for less) this is not only a really great foundation, but a really great foundation that's startlingly affordable.

Lately, I've been going through a bit of an obsessive lipstick buying phase, I admit. Luckily, I've been able to contain my need for MORE MORE MORE lipstick to when they're on sale so that I can get the most bang for my buck. I picked this one up a few weeks ago after standing in front of the Cover Girl lipstick display for approximately ever trying to decide between this one and the one next to it. It was very stressful, clearly. This is the first Cover Girl lipstick that I've bought in years and I rarely see lipsticks from this line reviewed, so I wasn't really sure what to expect but I was willing to try. Let's be real, I'm always willing to try.
