Prairie Beauty

Hey guys! When I was first introduced to AXIS-Y Climate Inspired Skin Care, what immediately drew me in was the idea of acknowledging that climate has an effect on our skin. Living in the climate that I personally do - one with extremely dry and cold winters and quite humid and hot summers - I am well versed in just how much climate effects my skin and how specifically I have to adjust my skin care to climate. All of this to say that I was very interested in trying out the AXIS-Y products and I got the opportunity to try out three products specifically chosen for my skin type. This was particularly good timing because a combination of 2020 burnout and consistent mask wearing definitely put my skin into a place where it needed these types of products.

With this winter being sort of all over the place and my skin being in a pretty weird place coming into it after several months of 2020 exhaustion having trimmed down my skin routine to the bare minimum, I was absolutely DYING to try out these two products from the VICHY Liftactiv Supreme line - and so was my skin. Winter on the prairies is pretty rough on most people's skin, I think, and as I get older I'm definitely noticing more and more impact to how my skin behaves as the weather gets colder and drier, so these two products with their focus on a hydration and moisture to bring back that youthful bounce were definitely appealing!

Dr. Belmeur is one of those skin care brands that has been on my radar for quite a while now, one I've definitely been interested in trying out, but just hadn't gotten around to yet. So, obviously, I was super excited when I found out that some of their products are included in the AVON x THEFACESHOP collaboration. I've been trying out a couple of the products for the past several weeks now and I'm a little bit in love, so I'm super excited to share them with you guys!

Hey guys! Seeing as we're right in the midst of the worst time of the year for skin - at least for me and many other people living in cold, dry climates - I'm all about talking about products that protect and nourish winter skin. I don't know about you, but during the winter I definitely have to take a little bit more care with my skin, not only making sure that it's sufficiently hydrated and protected from the elements, but also being sure to take care not to overwhelm it and cause sensitivity. For the past couple of months, I've been testing out the make p:rem x CrediThink Tamanu Calming Serum* and I feel like it's been making a huge difference in my sensitive skin.

For the past few years since I got to try out my first SkinCeuticals products, they've been a skin care brand that I both love to use myself and recommend to people who are looking for real visible results from their skin care, particular those with more mature skin. Recently, I got the chance to try out the SkinCeuticals Anti-Aging Regimen*, which includes two products that I'd never tried before as well as a long time, ride-or-die must have product that I've literally recommended more times than I can even count. I've been using these products consistently for a couple of months now and I'm definitely ready to give some thoughts.

When it comes to skin care ingredients, there is a short list for me that rank as Must Have's. Hyaluronic Acid is definitely on that list, especially as the weather gets colder and maintaining hydration in my skin becomes more and more paramount.  For the past few months, I've been trying out the Avon ANEW Hydra Fusion Serum* and I thought now would be a good time to tell you guys my thoughts on it since it's about that time to really start thinking about hydration.

Hey guys! I'm super excited for today's review. You guys know I've long been a fan of Korean skin care products and have had really great success with some of them, particularly light weight essences, toners, and serums. I've recently had the opportunity to try out the Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drop* and I've been really impressed with it. I was actually unfamiliar with Klairs before trying out this product, but after looking into the brand I'm really impressed with their ethos.

Paula's Choice is a skin care brand that I've loved for years now and one that I've always been able to count on to give me the results that they promise in formulations that are backed by science. For me, that's probably the most important thing about skin care. Recently, after they did a rebranding of their booster line in modern, colorful packaging, I've been trying out a couple of PC's boosters and revisiting one that I've loved in the past, so I wanted to share them with you guys.

For more on Boosters and why they're a great addition to your skin care routine as well as my thoughts on these three that I've been using, keep reading!

You guys know that I'm a bit of a skin care junkie. And by a bit, I mean that I am pretty much obsessed with trying out new products and seeing what really works for my skin. Recently, I decided that I really wanted to try out the Anew Clinical Line Eraser with Retinol* from Avon and they were kind enough to send it over for me to try out. I've actually been testing this one on and off for a couple of months now to really get a feel for how it works for my skin. Boasting an exclusive Amino-Acid complex, this product claims to reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles in just days.

So how did it work out for me? Keep reading for more!

As I try more and more products from Paula's Choice, the brand is quickly moving towards the top of my favorites list. It's been ages since I fell in love with the Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Exfoliant, which I actually just recently repurchased, and I'm still consistently using the RESIST C15 Super Booster as a part of my morning skin care every day as well as trying out some products that I've never used before from the brand. Most recently, I've been testing out the RESIST Omega+ Complex* and I'm super excited to review it for you guys!

You guys know that VICHY is one of my favorite skin care brands and that I've had really incredible success with so many of their products. For ages, now, one of my favorite products in the summer has been the VICHY Eau Thermale, which is a mineral water mist that I tend to use to refresh my skin and give it a bit of a drink throughout the day, so I was really excited when I had the chance to try out the brand new VICHY Mineral 89 Skin Fortifying Daily Booster*, which contains 89% Mineralizing Thermal Water and Hyaluronic Acid. Sounds kind of great, right?

I think I'm officially a serum junkie. More and more over the past few years, I've realized that if I really want to see the results I want from my skin care, I have to be consistent about using good serums that give me the results I'm looking for. Recently, I've been trying out the Neal's Yard Remedies Frankincense Intense Lift Serum*, which is brand new this month from the brand!

I feel like every brand that I enjoy or that I've been dying to try has a product or two that is 100% on my radar and that I want to get my hands on. When it comes to Paula's Choice, admittedly there are a few of those, but for quite some time now one of those products has been the RESIST C15 Super Booster*, which I've heard really great things about. In the past year, I've started using Vitamin C every day as a part of my skin care routine, and it was completely ridiculous that I'd never tried this.

When it comes to ingredients in skin care, one of the most researched and effective in reducing signs of aging is definitely L-ascorbic acid, a form of Vitamin C, and it has definitely become a staple in my skin care routine over the past year. Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant and is great for evening out skin tone and texture. I don't know about you, but that's something that I very much need! For Spring 2017, MyChelle Dermaceuticals has a new serum in their stable - the Perfect C PRO Serum 25%*, and I've been testing it out for the past few weeks.

The Ordinary is really getting a ton of attention at the moment, and I genuinely think it's for good reason. I've been using their products for a few months now - and just started using another 4 last week - and I'm overwhelmingly impressed. That being said, one of my favorite products is also their most expensive. At a whopping $14.80CAD, "Buffet" has been a serious winner for me, so I wanted to give you guys a full review and talk a little bit about what I've learned about peptides in the past several months!

If you're a regular reader of the blog, you may recall that a couple of months ago I got to go to the launch of the SKiNWISE Dermatology clinic here in Winnipeg, which is now a SkinCeuticals clinic. I was pretty thrilled with everything about the event and look forward to going back to the clinic as a client, but I was also really, really thrilled that I would get to try out a customized skin care routine from SkinCeuticals. SkinCeuticals has been on my radar for ages, but I hadn't gotten the opportunity to try out any of their products yet, so I couldn't wait to get these products onto my skin. I've been using all three of these products consistently for about 8 weeks now and I'm definitely ready to give my full thoughts on them!

In the past couple of years, I've gotten the chance to try out a handful of products from Paula's Choice and I've so consistently been impressed by the product that I'm pretty much game to try anything the brand has on the table. Recently, you may have read my review of the Paula's Choice Radiance Renewal Mask*, which I absolutely loved and have still be reaching for a couple of times a week as an overnight treatment. At the same time as the launch of that product, the company also released the Paula's Choice RESIST Brightening Essence* - which, because of the type of product that it is, took me a little longer to test.

Over the past year or so, Vichy has really been doing me good and I continue to use a lot of the products that I've had the opportunity to try here on the blog. In fact, if anyone would be interested in an update post on all of the Vichy products that I've reviewed, let me know in the comments because I'd love to do that! Now, I recently got the opportunity to try the newly reformulated Vichy Liftactiv Serum 10 Supreme* and I was insanely excited about it because the Vichy Idealia Life Serum* was one of my favorite skin care products of 2015 and remains one of my favorite serums that I've ever used. I've been using this consistently for a few weeks now and I'm ready to let you know what I think of it!

The first time Indeed Labs ended up on my radar was with the cult favorite Hydraluron serum. I'm pretty sure I've mentioned before in this blog just how much I love Hydraluron and how it always seems to end up coming back around in my skin care routine, making it one of those elusive forever favorites for those of us who are constantly looking to try new things. So, since I love that product so much, I was really excited when I got the chance to try the new Indeed Labs Vitamin c24 Face Cream*. I've really found that Vitamin C is a skin care ingredient that works really well for my skin, so I was anxious to see how this would hold up to some other Vitamin C products that I've been using in recent months.

I've tried a LOT of skin care this year. Seriously, I feel like this has been an insane year of trying out new skin care products in my life. That said, my skin is currently better than it has ever been and constantly getting closer and closer to the skin I've always wanted. Nothing better than that, am I right? Sometimes I feel like the biggest part of finding the skin care routine that works for you is going to involve a lot of trial and error, and I feel like that's what 2015 has been about for me. And trust me, there have been some serious winners that got injected into the routine this year. Every single one of these has been new-to-me this year and I still use all of them consistently!

Keep reading to take a look at my skin care favorites for 2015!
