I can't be trusted to do monthly empties like some bloggers. Why, you ask? I don't use up products with enough frequency to have regular content for monthly empties. This may speak to the fact that I have too many products going at any given time. My boyfriend would certainly tell you that I keep too many products in the shower, so that's saying something. Of course, like most people who are inclined to blog, I love trying new products and I'm always distracted by things that are shiny and new so I don't foresee that changing any time in the near future. I do, though, still feel like the best time to really give a full review of something is once you've gone through it, so without further adieu... Keep reading for the full contents of my empties bag from the past couple of months.
1. Herbal Essences The Sleeker The Butter Smoothing Shampoo
I feel like I've talked about The Sleeker The Butter line on the blog before, because I really love it. The first thing that got me really was the smell, because it smells absolutely delicious and I have this thing where I really love when I get a whiff of my own hair and it smells amazing. Beyond the scent, though, I really like what this line does for my hair. I feel like it's smooth and soft without any buildup and my hair actually stays looking and feeling clean for an extra day or so. I've repurchased this a couple of times and definitely would again in the future.
2. Herbal Essences Moroccan My Shine Nourishing Shampoo & Conditioner
I looked at this line and dismissed it a bunch of times before I actually bought it, to be honest. I've tried several argan oil hair products and I've found that most of them leave some heavy build up in my hair. That is definitely not a problem with this one, which I've clearly repurchased and which I currently have more bottles of in my shower. My hair feels and looks amazing when I use this shampoo and conditioner and I can't really say enough good things. Now, I might choose the scent of the The Sleeker The Butter line over this one by a hair, but as far as performance I think this one eeks the other one out slightly.
3. L'Oreal Total Repair 5 Instant Miracle
I love a hair mask. Honestly, there should be more of them in here but I think I threw out a couple of pots because they were gross and I didn't think to wash them before tossing them into my empties bag. This tube, however, didn't get all slimy with product so I held onto it. And I will be repurchasing it. First, the Total Repair 5 line from L'Oreal smells like marshmallows... which is pretty much my jam. But, again, more importantly, this is a really great product. You use it like a typical conditioner, just apply it and rinse, and I find that it just gives my hair a softness that can't be beat. And again, no heavy residue. Are we sensing a theme?
4. Bath & Body Works Almond & Honey Body Scrub
Truth being told, I've had this scrub for a long time and I used it sparingly so that it would last a while since this is one of those blink and it's gone B&BW releases and I can't actually repurchase it. At least not right now, but I'm keeping my eye out. This is a solid scrub. It does a good job of polishing the skin and leaves behind some moisture so that your skin doesn't feel raw. Overall, it does its job. But the real win for this for me really is the scent. Honey & Almond? Yes please. I'm really sad to see this one go.
5. Baléa Shave Gel with Aloe Vera and Vitamin E
Ahhh shave gel. I feel like shave gel is one of those products that is really only of note if it's bad. This one is fine, good even. It's very similar, as far as I can tell, to something like Skintimate. It's a gel product that produces a rich, thick foam. You don't need much and I haven't had any problems with it. That said, I'm currently using a conditioner that I bought that leaves my hair feeling heavy and dirty as a shave cream and it's working smashingly for me - better than shave gel, to be honest. So I guess there's that. This is fine, I'd buy it again if I was in the market for a shave gel.
6. Bath & Body Works Brown Sugar & Carrots Deep Cleansing Hand Soap
Know what I hate? I hate finding a scent of hand soap that is seasonal at B&BW that I absolutely love but know probably won't be back when that season rolls around again. I loved this soap. It was sweet smelling, but not too sweet, and had an interesting earthiness that I really liked this. This really is another one that I'm sad to see go... but of course, I have a stockpile of B&BW hand soap to work my way through so I can't cry too much over it.
7. Lavanila The Healthy Deodorant in Pure Vanilla
When I first bought this, I felt like I had really wasted my money. This stuff is not cheap. But I've been trying to go more natural with a lot of my products and I'd heard so many good things that I decided to pick it up. First off, it smells wonderful. I actually do really love that feeling of lifting my arm and getting a whiff of something soft and pretty. Is that a weird thing to say? Probably. But it's true. But like I said, at first I really thought it was a waste. Sweaty, my friends. Sweaty. I think, though, that as I used it longer my body got a little more used to it. Would I buy it again? Not sure. Maybe. I'm working my way through a couple of more cost effective natural deodorants that I seem to be liking... but this one definitely smells the best of all.
8. Skinicon Awesome Aqua Whip Hug Foam Cleanser
Ahhhhhh. I loved this. I used it to the last drop. In fact, I thought very seriously about cutting open the top of the tube to get the last remnants of this product out. I don't even know what it was about this, but I loved it. It smelled like oregano, which took some getting used to, and I only needed a small drop to get a nice, rick foam on the skin. I don't even know what else to say. I wish that this was more readily available on the sites where I order my Korean beauty products from because I would stock up. I might still. It's worth it.
9. Neutrogena Rapid Tone Repair Daily Moisturizer
I suffer from hyperpigmentation after breakouts and it drives me mental, so I picked this up in hopes of lightening those spots... and then I got flooded with tons of different face products because of my obsession with Memebox and I started alternating, so I'm not really sure if this made a difference with that. However, I do actually really like this as a daytime moisturizer and would likely pick it up again once I work my way through some of the other products I have in my arsenal currently. I do definitely want to keep retinols in my skincare routine in hopes of preserving my skin for the future, and I feel like this is a really solid drugstore option.
10. Dry Idea Advanced Dry Antiperspirant Deodorant
This deodorant is a workhorse, I swear. For the gym or hot summer days, I feel like nothing beats this product. Of course, now that I'm trying to move into more natural products, I'm not using this every day like I used to, but there is nothing that holds up to the performance of this as far as I'm concerned. It's good. It's really good. It keeps you dry and smelling fresh for a solid 24 hours. I guess there's a reason why natural products can't make those claims, but I wish they could.
11. Leaders Coconut Bio Mask with Tomato
I'm trying to use up some of my sheet masks... and when I say trying, what I mean is that I think about using them and then... I don't. But I used this one and it was pretty nice. Nothing earth shattering, but it felt nice on the skin and I feel like my skin looked pretty good afterwards. There's not a lot I can really say about any sheet mask I've tried, but this one wasn't bad. So I guess that's good?
12. Anastasia Brow Wiz in Medium Ash
Holy. Grail. I swear, there has never been a brow product that I've loved as much as I love this one. I use it pretty much every day and nothing gets my eyebrows as on point as this does. Honestly, I've talked this to death and I feel like there's nothing more to say about it. It's spendy, but it's worth every penny. As for repurchase? Already have and I used it this morning!
13. Wet N Wild Single Eyeshadow in Brulee
This is another staple of my makeup collection, so when I smashed the last of it I was pretty bummed. That being said, this is $1.99 at Superstore, so I'll be picking up another one as soon as I think of it while I'm in store. I love this for a browbone highlight or an all over lid shade for simple, contoured eye looks, but I also really like it for setting my undereye concealer. I find that it's the perfect shade for subtle brightening in that area and a light dusting of it keeps my concealer in place all day. Can't go wrong, especially for the price.
So there you have it, friends! A couple of months worth of products I've used up. One of my beauty resolutions for the new year is to try and use up more of my products so that I don't have so many things in reserve. This means that if all goes according to plan, you can count on more Empties posts in 2015.
I hope you all have a safe and happy new year and all the best to my readers in 2015! I just want to take a moment to thank the people who come and read this blog for helping me to make 2014 a really exciting year with this blog and I hope that the next year is going to be even better! Much love!
