EARTH DAY - Cruelty Free Brand & Product Favorites

by - April 22, 2015

I really wanted to acknowledge Earth Day here on the blog, because I feel like it's an important thing. I believe pretty strongly in trying to live in a way that is kind and harmonious with the planet, with nature, and with other creatures, so when there's a day to really focus on that I think it's important. I have to admit, with some disappointment in myself, that I'm not 100% Cruelty Free yet. I'd like to be on my way to using only cruelty free products, because I absolutely love animals and my heart breaks for them when I think about them being tested on and given a life that no creature should endure simply because I want cosmetic products.

Anyway, I figured today was a good day to put a focus on cruelty free brands and products that I use and love, so I chose 20 of my favorite cruelty free brands and chose my favorite products from those brands to share with you guys! Some of these products will be really familiar to you, because there are definitely some of my Holy Grail products in here.

Keep reading to take a look!

1. Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz
Who doesn't love the Brow Wiz, really?  It's just a perfect, no-brainer product for getting really, really nice brows. Need I say more? Nothing has even come close to this for me yet.

2. BITE Beauty Luminous Créme Lipstick in Retsina (Review)
This is my perfect nude lipstick. It lives in my purse pretty much permanently and I have every intention of getting a backup into my collection very soon. If you're a fair/light complected lady and you're looking for a nude that won't dead you out... try this one.

3. Burt's Bees Beeswax Lip Balm - (Note: Parent company is NOT cruelty free)
This one is an OG, isn't it? I always have a tube of the classic Vitamin E & Peppermint Burt's Bees lip balm in my purse for my on the go balming needs. Honestly, this just gets it done and stays in place for ages. This balm also comes in like a million different flavors, so there's pretty much something for everyone.

4. Dr. Bronner's All-In-One Hemp Almond Pure Castille Soap
Dr. Bronner's is really big on Animal Advocacy, which really gets my full respect. I salute you! On top of that, though, this soap is great. You can use their Magic Soap for pretty much anything, but I love the Almond Bar soap very specifically for cleaning my makeup tools. Seriously, try it! Also, mmmm that smell! I'm pretty sure Dr. Bronner's is to blame for my almond scent obsession.

5. Eco Tools Face & Body Sculpting Brush
Eco Tools brushes are both really great and also really accessible, which makes them a big win for me. I've been meaning to talk about this brush on the blog for a while, actually. This is perfect for all over bronzing for me. It's quick and easy and gives my a glow from decolletage to forehead with a minimum of effort.

6. Flower Beauty Color Play Creme Eyeshadow (Review)
I've had this in my collection for a few months and I'm still absolutely loving it. I love that Flower Beauty is now available in Canada, because we always need more affordable and accessible brands here, especially ones that offer beautiful products that are a cruelty free option.

7. Hard Candy Fast & Fabulous Makeup Setting Spray (Face Off)
Admittedly, I had no idea that Hard Candy was cruelty free until recently, but I'm really excited to hear it. This product has jumped to the top of the heap from Hard Candy for me and I find myself reaching for it really often. It's a very affordable and effective drug store option.

8. Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder
You know this has to be here, right? I use my Ambient Lighting palette pretty much every single day to give me a lit from within glow and I just can't find much desire to use anything else from my collection. If I could only have 1 luxury makeup product, it would be this.

9. Josie Maran 100% Argan Oil Light
I love Argan Oil and I pretty much always have a bottle going in my stash, but I actually think I like this Light version more than your standard Argan Oil.I find that I can use this without it being at all greasy, whether I use it on my face, my cuticles or through the ends of my hair. Me gusta.

10. Lavanila The Healthy Deodorant in Pure Vanilla
I actually wasn't sure how I felt about this for a long time when I first started using it, but I think I'm on the bandwagon. If you've mostly used antiperspirant, this is going to take some getting used to, but I love the way it smells and I find that it keeps me smelling fresh all day - even if I'm a little sweatier than what I was used to before.

11. LUSH Ocean Salt Scrub
This is another OG for me.  I find that when my skin is giving me problems and needs a little pick me up, I can throw this into my skincare routine about twice a week and it really makes a difference. It is pretty course, so you definitely need to use light pressure, but I find that a little gentle scrubbing really does the trick with this. And it tastes like a margarita if you have to get it on your lips, just saying.

12. NYX Butter Lipstick in Pops
Choosing a NYX product for this post was surprisingly easy for me. Ever since I got this lipstick, it has taken the lead for NYX products for me. It's a great every day neutral shade that's very flattering, very pigmented, and very comfortable on the lips.

13. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar in Strumpet
Until recently this was the only OCC Lip Tar that I owned... and really the only one that I needed according to me. This berry shade manages to be deep and bright at the same time, bringing enough purple to make it not feel pink to me, and wears for pretty much ever. Seriously.

14. Pacifica Island Vanilla Body Butter
This smell, you guys. My god, this smell. I actually smelled this scent the first time after getting a rollerball of the fragrance in an Ipsy bag and it's just. So. Delicious. It's definitely a summer scent and to me it feels both pretty and a little bit sexy. Love it.

15. Physician's Formula Eye Booster Liquid Eyeliner (Review)
This is hands down my favorite liquid eyeliner and really the only one I currently have in my collection. It's incredibly easy to apply, really black, and wears all day for me. It's a little spendy for drugstore, but you can pretty much find it on sale every other week, so it's still a decently priced product.

16. Pixi Correction Concentrate in Brightening Peach
I am definitely a dark circl sufferer and this has really been something of a game changer for me. It really combats those blue tones under my eyes and brightens up the whole area without any creasing or smudging through the day. Kinda wishing I had gotten a backup before Target went byebye....

17. Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque
This is one of those cult products for a very good reason. I like to use this when my skin is acting up and I know that I need to have a good skin day for whatever reason. I like to use this with a thin layer of argan oil as a primer so that it isn't drying on my skin and I find I always have a great skin day the next day!

18. Sonia Kashuk Medium Multipurpose Powder Brush No. 17
I use this brush every single day. Not even playing with you, ever since I got it I use it every single day. This is pretty much the only brush that I apply blush with anymore, but it would also be pretty much the perfect size for contouring. It's just good and I wish I had a back up.  I feel like this is the one SK brush everyone needs in their life.

19. The Body Shop Ginger Scalp Care Shampoo
This is a fairly new find for me, but I had a really bad scalp situation this winter and this shampoo absolutely hooked me up. I can't use this every time I wash my hair, but when my scalp is acting up or really dry I like to use this once a week. Smells pretty good too, Mmmmm.

20. Weleda Skin Food
This is actually a fairly new find for me (Look for it in my upcoming April favorites!) but I don't know how I lived without it. In prepping my feet for sandal season, I needed something to really give some intense moisture to my heels so that I have those baby looking feet and this literally made a difference in the softness of my heels within an hour of applying it. Not just surface softness, but overall softness. If you have any issues with seriously dry or cracked skin, you need this in your life. For real.

So there you have it, my Top 20 Cruelty Free brands and products! I'd love to hear what your favorite cruelty free brands and products are as well! Also, I'd love to hear what you're doing this Earth Day!
