REVIEW: Sonia Kashuk Radiant Boost Restorative Facial Oil

by - May 21, 2015

Can I just say that I'm officially sad now about the byebye Target situation? I used to really love to just pop in there, wander around, pick up a few beauty items and chill out on a weeknight, and I keep finding myself wanting to do that but without any Target to go to. Sigh. Anyway, during one of the last weeks that Target was here, my location had these facial oils deeply discounted even though they hadn't even made it to the shelf at regular price yet. Since I'd been wanting to try it, I picked one up to play with and try out and now I'm ready to give my thoughts!

Pretty great description, right? I thought so too!

Let's talk packaging. I LOVE THIS PACKAGING. Seriously, this is my favorite packaging of any facial oil I've ever owned - and I've owned a lot. It looks really pretty, right? It does. But that's not the best part. The best part is the cap. I'm sure this isn't a Sonia Kashuk exclusive feature, but I haven't had it in any of my other bottles of facial oil so it's exciting. Anyway. Basically, when you unscrew the cap, the little button on the top releases and fills the dropper with product, and then when you screw it back on the button depresses and pushes the air out of the dropper. Basically, this means that there's no squeezing or pumping or whatever to get the product into the dropper. You just have to unscrew the lid and then your product is ready to go. Can you tell I really love this cap? I really love this cap... Anyway, huge packaging win.

You know I was going to need this in my life with Sweet Almond Oil as the first ingredient. However, this also has a lot of other great oils blended in. Honestly, I have to say that I really kinda love this ingredient list. There's so many great skin care ingredients in this oil. Really. I can't complain one bit.

Another thing I love about this oil is the scent of it. It's got a rich, bright scent that I am absolutely incapable of describing. It's sexy, though, that much I will tell you. There's something just intoxicating about the smell of this... but if you don't like the smell, you're going to hate it because it's quite strong. There are no perfumes in this product, so it isn't a chemical or perfumey smell, but it is incredibly strong.

I've been trying this a few different ways and I have mixed feelings about it in practice, I have to say. I definitely can't use this product every day. I think it's just too rich for my skin for constant use, but using it a couple of times a week gives my skin a beautiful appearance and glow and makes it feel incredibly soft and supple. I like to use this when I take my makeup off and shower right after work. At that time of day, I don't like to do my nightime skincare routine, but I like to add a little kick of moisture to my skin and this works beautifully for that. Now, I do feel like it makes my skin look a little shiny and tends to really highlight pores and imperfections, so this is really only for a night in or overnight product.

Honestly, I have to say, I would love to have a huge bottle of this to use as a body oil because I almost feel like that would be the perfect use for it for me. I love the smell and the texture of it, but since it's a little too much for regular use on my face I think it would be perfect as a body oil... of course, I'd hate to use up the bottle so quickly when I can't buy another one, so I haven't used it for that. Yet.

My overall thoughts are that this is a good product - one that some people will absolutely love and some people will undoubtedly hate. I think if you have oily skin, this might be way too much for you, but if you're on the drier side it's definitely worth a look. If you don't like or can't handle strong scents, I would avoid this even though I find the smell to be gorgeous.

How's that, did I hit all the points I was supposed to? Thanks for reading and I hope this review was helpful!
