WHAT I WORE THIS WEEK: June 13 - 17, 2015

by - July 10, 2015

We're in week 2 of this experiment where I photograph all of the products I used to do my makeup every morning and I have to admit that I'm kinda impressed with myself for keeping it up for 10 days. Anyone else out there completely unreliable in that way? Anyway, I'm really enjoying this process because it's really ensuring that I know what I've really been leaning towards every month - especially since there are a few products I've  been reaching for every single day. Next week, I'll be traveling, so while there will still be scheduled posts on the blog, there will be a little something different in place of What I Wore This Week, but I'm hoping to be back to regularly scheduled posts after the 22nd!

Anyway, without any more rambling and whatnot, keep reading to take a look what I was reaching for this week!

I just recently picked up that Pupa shadow (after lusting over it for months at Rexall) and I really wanted to use it. The face makeup in this looks was pretty simple and straight forward and then I did a daytime smoky eye with the Pupa shadow blended out with a couple of the midtone shades from the Tartelette palette. It turned out okay, but that shadow is definitely going to be reserved for night time from now on, there's not quite enough purple or brown in it to make it daytime appropriate for me.

LIPS:
MeNow Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick in #18

Again with the wanting to try the Pupa eyeshadow - which I also used as a highlight and don't particularly recommend as a highlight unless you have PERFECT skin texture because it was a little bit glittery. This was actually a really simple look over all, I have to say. That liquid lipstick is actually really good, as liquid lipsticks go, but I did have to remove it after about 5½ hours with some lip balm because it started to wear a little bit weird. Still, that's an epically long time for me to have any product on my lips for.

This was a VERY weird look for me... and a very bad day to wear it because there was crying. This mascara was EVERYWHERE by the end of the day. However, it was actually a really fun look with a warm, burnt kind of eye look and an overall kind of summery ease. But seriously, don't wear that mascara if there's going to be crying. Everywhere!

L'Oreal Telescopic Shocking Extensions Mascara (not pictured for some reason...)

BROWS:
NYX Micro Brow Pencil in Ash Brown
L'Oreal Brow Stylist Plumper Brow Gel
This was again a really simple look that is kinda what I do every day... HOWEVER, I had a terrible skin day, the foundation didn't seem to want to really sink into the skin so it looked and felt like it was sitting on top all day, and the highlighter in that Wet N Wild trio looked absolutely awful. I did a contoured eye with the Tartelette palette in the crease and outer corner with the Essence shadow all over the lid, which looked quite good... but my face just looked a mess. Not cute. I think I need to try some things with those products and figure out if it was me or the combination of them that caused the madness.

I really like this look for summer. It's got a fair amount of glow, but not a lot of color. I love this Nature Republic shadow and I have a strong feeling that I'll be using it a lot in the near future. It's almost a rose gold, but it leans a little cooler and more mauve than a traditional rose gold. I packed it all over the lid all the way to the crease and then just did a little bit of subtle blending with a transition shade from the Tartelette palette. I suspect that this kind of look is going to get a lot of play for me in the near future, because it's just... easy and pretty and subtle.
