TAG: Addicted to Blush Tag

by - October 29, 2015

When I saw Jenn over at A Beautiful Zen do the Addicted to Blush Tag, I had absolutely no choice but to toss my hat in the ring on this one. It was only the other day that I really realized how hard my addiction to blush has grown when I realized I literally had no room left in my blush drawer for even one more product. This is a problem. So I gave 5 away, because I figured that was enough for now and my best friend loves shimmery pink blushes a hell of a lot more than I do, so she would be the perfect recipient of a few of my shimmerier, pinker blushes. Still, at count when I was putting together this post my blush count is... 42 Single blushes, 3 blushes in mixed palettes, and 3 blush palettes with 3, 4, and 8 blushes respectively. I have a blush problem, don't I?

Anyway... Blush Tag, let's do this!

What colour blush suits you the most? I think mauve or soft, neutral blushes look best on my skin tone.

Pressed/cream/loose blush? Loose blush is a big no for me, I don't even own any anymore. I like cream blush well enough, but I don't find myself reaching for it very often. It has to be pressed blush. Me and pressed blush have a true love affair.

... Be warned, most of my "Favorites" are going to be of the moment rather than of all time, because I'm just no good at all time favorites, for the most part.

Favorite shimmery blush? I can't wear really shimmery blush because of my skin texture, so I tend to go with sheen over shimmer for the most part. Laura Gellar Blush & Brighten in Sateen Subtle Berry is one that I've been reaching for pretty consistently lately. It's a warm mauve tone with a really pretty sheen to it that just looks absurdly pretty.

Favorite matte blush? This right here is one of those all time favorite categories, because the Kryolan for Glossybox blush in Glossy Rosewood has been a favorite since way back when Canada had our own Glossybox service. Glossy Rosewood is absolutely perfect. Cool pinky mauve tone that just looks healthy, natural, and absolutely gorgeous on my fair to light skin tone. LOVE.

Favorite cream blush? Ummmm. I actually don't reach for cream blush very often, but I'm going to go with the Makeup Revolution The One Fluid Blusher in the shade Pink Sea. It's definitely a liquid more than a cream, so I'm cheating, but I actually reach for this a lot on very light makeup days to just give my cheeks a little life.

Favorite bright blush? This one was actually pretty hard, since I don't wear bright blushes often, but after some swatching I had to go with the Makeup Revolution The MATTE Blush in Dare. It's just a super vibrant pink shade that looks really great on summer days.

Favorite drugstore blush? This was a hard one... But I think I'm going to go with the Essence Silky Touch blushes since I probably reach for them more often than any of my other drugstore blushes. My favorite shade is Babydoll, because it's another one of those really natural looking blushes.

Biggest blush disappointment/regret? This feels a little out of left field, but I was really disappointed with the Sleek blush in Rose Gold. It's so over-the-top glowy and shimmery that I just can't wear it.

Favorite high end blush? I went back and forth a few times on this, but I'm going with my gut. My favorite high end blush is the Hourglass Ambient Blush in Mood Exposure. It won't be for everyone, but I love the warm, pretty glow it gives my cheeks and I feel like it goes with everything.

Best blush packaging? CLINIQUE CHEEK POP BLUSHES! Ahem. But seriously. I want the whole collection just because I love the way they're packaged and I'd love to have a pretty row of them all in my blush drawer. They're not super luxe or anything over-the-top, but they're really sturdy and gorgeous at the same time.

What's on your blush wish list? I definitely want more Cheek Pop blushes, specifically in the shades Heather Pop and Cola Pop. I want the Becca blush in Sweet Pea and Flower Child. I still want to get my hands on the tarte Amazonian Clay blush palette - if there's any chance of that. And I want to try out more Korean blushes from brands like Tonymoly and Skinfood.

Number 1 Holy Grail blush? Honestly, I'm going to have to go with the Kryolan Glossy Rosewood blush again. Like I said above, I'm not good at choosing favorites, but this really has been a consistent go to in my collection for years.

What's your favorite blush brush? Even though I have a lot of blush brushes in my collection, I've pretty consistently been using the Sonia Kashuk No 17 Medium Angled Multipurpose Brush for blush for over a year now, and probably won't stop anytime soon. That said, I love the Julep brush that I got recently as well!

As I think about my blush collection, I have to give a few honorable mentions that just somehow didn't end up getting mentioned here. So here's a few little blush tidbits for the road:
  • tarte Amazonia Clay blushes are absolutely one of my all time favorite blush formulas.
  • Wet N Wild blushes are pigmented as balls and like $3 - if you haven't tried them, you should.
  • If you're looking for baked blushes in the drugstore, look at Milani, especially if you're medium skintoned and deeper.
  • Stila Convertible Color blushes are really good quality cream blushes.
  • I've really never had very good luck with a lot of blushes from the major drugstore brands.
Okay, I think that's enough for today! Thanks for reading!

I'd love to hear about your favorite blush products in the comments and I tag EVERYONE to complete their own blush tag and let me know about it, I'd love to read it!
