REVIEW: The Body Shop Camomile Waterproof Eye & Lip Makeup Remover

by - November 16, 2015

I never used to wear waterproof mascara, even though I'm realizing the significant benefits of doing so now. Waterproof mascara can be such a pain to get off and I'm always terrified that I'm going to start ripping out my eyelashes if I rub too hard - and that is not a thing I'm at all eager to do. I mean... I guess that's a pretty obvious thing to say, right? No one actually wants to rip out their eyelashes. I've found that since I've been using waterproof mascara most days now, I need to be a little more intense with my makeup revomoving products than I used to. By more intense, of course, I mean that I need to use something with an oil component to really break up the product. Recently, I decided to pick up the Camomile Waterproof Eye & Lip Makeup Remover from The Body Shop, and I'm ready to give you guys my thoughts on this baby!

About this product:
This efficient make-up remover lifts away the most stubborn waterproof eye and lip make-up.
  • Removes waterproof mascara and lipstick
  • Gently removes all traces of make-up
  • Fragrance, colour and alcohol-free
  • Suitable for sensitive skin and contact lens wearers
I'm actually really impressed with this makeup remover when it comes to getting off my waterproof mascara and those stubborn liquid lipsticks that are so popular right now without irritating my skin. I have very sensitive eyes and in the past a lot of eye makeup removers have really irritated them, but that hasn't been a problem with this product at all. I like to just put a good amount of this on two cotton rounds and hold them to my eyes for about 10-15 seconds before wiping the product away and I've found that it really does a good job. I also really like this for touch ups, if I've gone a little too outside the lines with my eye makeup or have smudged something. In that case, I apply a small amount to a QTip and brush over the spot that needs fixing and it's gone in no time without really disrupting the rest of my makeup. When it comes to liquid lipsticks, I think this does a pretty good job, but does require a little more work to really get all traces of it away and doesn't necessarily feel as gentle - though that could be on account of the lipstick rather than the removal method. Liquid lipsticks really can be a bitch and sometimes you have to go hard with the olive oil to really break them up.

Overall, I think this is a great option and, since The Body Shop always seems to be having some kind of sale, can usually be found at a really affordable price. If you're in the market for a makeup remover with an oil component, I would recommend giving this one a try. Honestly, I've been really impressed with the Camomile line from The Body Shop overall and have only good things to say about both the Cleansing Oil and the Cleansing Balm as well. Definitely worth trying out.

The Body Shop Camomile Waterproof Eye & Lip Makeup Remover is available in stores and online at TheBodyShop.ca  for $16 CAD.
