EMPTIES: January 2016

by - February 02, 2016

So here's a story... The other day when I was thinking, "Man, I really need to photograph my empties for the blog," I went and picked up the bag and was a little bit shocked at how heavy it was. I'm pretty sure that this month's empties is my most epic empties ever - though it does get a bit of an assist based on the fact that I'm finally throwing out some mascaras that have been sitting around unused and dried up for a while. Anyone else kind of bad at that?

I'm planning on doing a bit of a declutter this month, getting rid of some things and streamlining my collection. I know those sorts of things are big on Youtube, but if anyone wants me to blog the experience let me know in the comments because I'd be happy to make that work! I'm also planning on doing some collection posts - which I suspect are going to overwhelm my balls off.

Anyway, if you want to see what I used up this month, along with mini-reviews of each of the products, keep reading!

Bath & Body Works Aromatherapy Vanilla Verbena Stress Relief Body Wash & Foam Bath
I'm pretty sure I got this during one of B&BW's epic sales, which makes me suspect I might not be able to get my hands on it again, which is unfortunately because I really enjoyed this. I'm definitely a stress bather, so I love to have a scent in the bath that I will find soothing and this definitely did that for me. I also made my boyfriend take a couple of baths with this when we were out of epsom salts, and he seemed to like the scent as well.
Would repurchase.

COLAB Sheer Invisible Dry Shampoo in RIO Tropical
This was one of my hair care favorites this year and this is probably my 5th bottle of the stuff, so you guys know this is a favorite. If you haven't tried the COLAB Dry Shampoo yet, I don't know what you are doing with your life! (Unless you don't like dry shampoo, in which case... Do you!) Anyway, I'm working on a bottle of the Monaco scent right now and I'm loving it as well.
Always repurchase.

Luz De La Riva Intimate Body Wash In Wild Orchid (Review)
I also used this as a bubble bath more than anything else, because I loved the depth of the scent that clung to the water and then my skin when I was finished. To me, this is definitely a sexy scent, one that's perfect when you're getting ready for a romantic evening with your partner.
Might repurchase.

Nuganic Customize Pore Control Essence
I got this in a Memebox, which tells you how long it's been in my collection, but I decided to go back to using it recently and I found that I liked it a lot more this time than I did when I was first using it. Unfortunately, I'm not even sure where one would procure this and I seem to recall it was quite spendy. For me, this would be worth a high drugstore price point, but not a high end price point.
Unlikely repurchase.

Clean & Clear Deep Action Cream Cleanser (Review)
Here's another products from my 2015 Favorites, and I'm still in love with it. I'm actually not using it right now, because they were sold out of it when I went to repurchase and I had the bright idea to try a store brand equivalent (which is just not as good), but once I get through that one this is coming back with a vengeance.
Definite repurchase.

Balance Me Congested Skin Serum
I got this in a Birchbox, and I have to say it's probably one of the best finds I've had through Birchbox. I generally reached for this when my skin was starting to feel a little bit out of control and it did a really good job of soothing and getting rid of breakouts. Admittedly, I might have gone a little too hard with it and likely could have made it go a little further for me, but I got excited.
Would repurchase.

The Body Shop Camomile Waterproof Eye & Lip Remover (Review)
I really enjoyed this makeup remover. I found that it didn't sting or irritate my eyes and it did a good job of breaking up my waterproof eye products and matte liquid lipsticks.
Would repurchase.

BIODERMA Micellar Water
I always end up going back to Bioderma. I like picking up these little bottles, because they're easy to store, easy to travel with, and easy to keep in my desk at work. This is a great product and I have to say that I think it's always going to be the OG that all other micellar waters have to live up to.
Always repurchase.

Marcelle 3-in-1 Micellar Solution
I have to say, I really liked this micellar water and I think it really stood up to the Bioderma. I picked this up sort of on a whim, but I'm glad I did. (What do you even say about a Micellar water???)
Would repurchase.

Bourgois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation
I AM SO SAD THAT THIS IS USED UP. I swear, this is one of my favorite foundations that I've ever tried and I need to get it back in my collection, stat. I love this on its own, but where it really shines for me is when it's mixed with another foundation. There's something about this formula that just makes everything else sit better on my skin. Lovelovelove.
Definite repurchase.

Revlon Colorstay Whipped Foundation
So. This isn't actually empty. I didn't love how heavy it felt on my skin, so I didn't use it for a long time and then decided to pull it out... And then I got THE WORST BREAKOUT EVER and I decided that this needs to be far, far away from me. I know a lot of people love this, but I am absolutely not one of them.
Never repurchase. Ever.

Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water
Welp. This was just kinda okay for me. I decided to try it after all the hype and I was skeptical from the start, and this just really didn't impress me all that much. I ended up using up the bottle as a setting spray, actually, because it did actually do a pretty good job of taking down any powderiness left behind on my face. This is just not for me unfortunately.
Will not repurchase.

Maybelline FIT Me Concealer
Here's another of my OG favorite products that I always use up and always go back to. This is definitely my favorite concealer in the drugstore and it's the one I always recommend to people who are looking for a budget friendly concealer option. It's just good, period. Worth the hype.
Forever repurchase.

I'm going to shoot for brevity with these ones....

Covergirl Full Lash Bloom Mascara
Brush was stabby, didn't do much for my lashes. No repurchase.

YSL Baby Doll Mascara
LOVED THIS, though I've heard that it's better in a sample tube than in the full size. Would gleefully repurchase.

A'Pieu Full Of Nature Mascara
I remember really liking this a lot while I was using it and I think I need to pick up another one to see if I like it as much on the second try. Likely repurchase.

Shiseido Perfect Mascara Full Definition
Nope. Did not like this. It felt wet and heavy and didn't do anything impressive for my lashes. No repurchase.

Blinc Mascara
I liked this for a while, but then I decided that tubes just aren't my thing. I think it's good for what it is, but what it is isn't right for me. No repurchase.

Make Up For Ever Smoky Extravagant Mascara
I like this... but the brush is so enormous that I just don't enjoy the application and feel like it gets really messy. No repurchase.

Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleansing Cloths (x3) (Review)
Can you tell I love these? To be fair to me, these are actually the travel sizes so they were only 10 sheets per package, but I flew threw them. These are my favorite cleansing wipes, period. They're gentle and effective and I can't say enough good things about them.
Definite repurchase.

THEFACESHOP Real Nature Aloe Sheet Mask
You guys know I love my sheet masks and I tend to go through quite a lot of the ones from THEFACESHOP because they're good and they're very accessible to me. This one was nice, more of an experience than a treatment for me, but I enjoyed it and would use it again.
Likely repurchase.

LIFE Brand Pore Cleansing Facial Sheet Mask
This is one of my favorite masks for when my skin is freaking out - irritated and breaking out and all of that annoying stuff. These are actually kind of hard for me to find, so when I do I always grab 3. I would recommend this for anyone who gets hormonal breakouts, because I feel like these really save the day.
Definite repurchase.

E.G.T. Essence Gel Eyefill Patch
I like to use these when my eyes are puffy from not getting enough sleep, because they tend to really kind of cool down that area and take down the puffiness. I'm working my way through a package of these at the moment, and I'm not sure I'd grab them again but I'm enjoying them while I have them.
Possible Repurchase

BioRepublic Green Tea Detox Sheet Mask
So... Never has a sheet mask fit me so perfectly and felt so cooling and refreshing as these ones from BioRepublic. Honestly, they're a little spendier than I prefer, but they're so good that I can hardly complain. I suspect I will be picking up some more of these.
Likely repurchase.

Thus concludes my most epic of empties posts. I feel like I really had so many things on the go that they just all seemed to run out at the same time... but I always have a lot of things on the go, so... Yeah.

Anyway, thanks for reading and I'd love to hear if you've tried any of these products and what you think of them! Also, if you would be interested in seeing collection or declutter posts, let me know in the comments!
