MONTHLY FAVORITES: April 2016

by - May 03, 2016

I feel like this was a GREAT month for makeup in my life. Is that a weird thing to say? Honestly, I feel like April was a month of finding some really great products - both new-to-me products as well as some old favorites in my collection. Generally, the best thing for me about the change of seasons is the change of my beauty routine, and I've really been enjoying this one. I've been dipping my toes back into bronzer and lightening up the makeup on my eyes to focus more on lips, definitely things that I do in the warmer months pretty consistently.

Anyway, if you're interested in a closer look at my current favorite products, keep reading!

Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette (Review)
How many favorites list has this been on so far this month? Probably tons. I feel like I got really lucky to get this and glad that I went with my whim, since I suspect I would have been bummed to miss out on it. This is a really beautiful palette and is definitely pushing me in a warmer direction with my makeup than I normally go. Also - and this isn't in my original review because it's new to me - the shade Nectar makes the most beautiful highlight on the tops of the cheekbones and I'm pretty sure that I'm going to actually hit pan on it sooner than later.

tarte Tartelette Tease Palette (Review)
I also really loved this palette this month and I've been reaching for it a lot for really easy looks. As far as the tones in this palette, this is definitely more in my usual wheelhouse than the Sweet Peach palette, and I really don't have to think too hard about what I'm going to do on my eyes with this palette. So even though it doesn't push me in any kind of creative way, it's beautiful and easy for me to use. One critique, though, is that I wish one of the pale shades had been shimmery because that I do find myself bringing in a glowy pale lid shade from elsewhere often when I use this palette.

Clinique Cheek Pop Blush in Heather Pop
I feel like this blush pops up in my favorites every few months, but it's for good reason. I love love love this blush and sometimes it'll sit for a while in my drawer while I focus on other things, but as soon as I pull it out again it goes back into regular rotation. This is probably my favorite blush formula on the market right now and this shade is absolutely perfect for every day wear on my fair skin. I really can't say enough good things about the Clinique Cheek Pop Blush and if you haven't tried it yet... Do it. Seriously. There's a wide shade range and I think anyone will be able to find something that works on their skintone within it.

theBalm Balm Desert Bronzer Blush
As you can see, I have a teeeeeeny little sample of this product that I got in a subscription box last year, but I still keep using it and will definitely end up getting through it. This is a really cool product because it really does walk the line between a blush and a bronzer shade, never straying too far either way. Now, that being said, on my skin I definitely use this as a blush and maybe brush a little bit over my forehead to look like I've gotten a little pinky bronze in the sun. This gives a really natural, healthy look and I really like it for that. I have a feeling this will be a repurchase in full size once I get through this, but even with this tiny sample it's taking a while.

essence Make Me Brow Eyebrow Mascara (Review)
My brow product selection is insane these days, but I really have been finding myself reaching for this one really often. I just really like this shade and this formula and find that it keeps my brows looking good throughout the day. I don't really know what else to say about it, because I've talked about it a lot, but I definitely think it's worth trying out if you haven't yet!

tarte Tarteist Lash Paint Mascara (Review)
Guys. I love this stuff. I was really skeptical when I bought it, but I absolutely fell in love. This builds my lashes in the most insane, amazing way. I don't love the packaging on this deluxe size, but even still I find myself reaching for this constantly because it just makes my lashes look like they're on steroids. Seriously, if you like super black, super voluminous lashes, this is worth trying. That being said, if you really struggle with mascara moving around on you, this might not be the best one for you. Still. Love it.

Annabelle Skinny Brow Liner in Universal Ebony
Have I talked about the Annabelle Skinny Brow Liner on the blog before now? I think I have, but I have to again. This is a great brow pencil! I think this does a good job of shaping and filling in my brows, wears really well, and looks really natural. I feel like the drugstore is starting to kill it with brow products lately, and this is definitely in the top 3 for me. I have it in several shades and they all work really well on me, weirdly enough.

La Solution 10 De Chanel Sensitive Skin Cream
You guys. So, I got a chance to try this as part of the Elle Canada Beauty Grand Prix jury and once I had reviewed it, I pulled off the sticky stuff on the outside and revealed that this is what it was. This moisturizer works amazing on my skin. I've found while I was using it my skin looked and felt amazing. This is really gentle and I didn't have any irritation while I was using it, but it really deeply hydrated my skin and left it feeling plump and smooth. Lovelovelove. This is a spendy moisturizer, but I feel like it holds up incredibly to the price point. Beeeeeautiful.

I loved this month for makeup, I really did. I can't even tell you how much I've been into all of the new products in my collection and the old favorites. I'd love to hear in the comments how you guys feel about these products, because I'm always curious to know what you guys think of the products that I love.

Come back tomorrow for an EPIC two month segment of empties!

Thanks for reading!
