While January felt like the longest month ever, I feel like February passed in a bit of a blink, so I'm admittedly a little late on putting together my favorites this month, whoops! It was also a month that was pretty busy for me and I actually pretty consistently found myself reaching for a very small number of products to get the job done so this favorites post isn't quite so packed with products. Still, you can count on the fact that everything mentioned here is something that I really, really love.

I feel like the end of summer is really hitting hard this year - at least here on the prairies. It seems like the nights are getting cold earlier than usual and I've already shifted out of flip flops mode and into sweater weather mode. Strange, isn't it? Anyway, as summer fades, my makeup and skincare choices really start to naturally shift as well, so this month's Favorites feels a little bit like saying goodbye to summer beauty as much as celebrating the things I loved this past month. Of course, I have a strong feeling that a lot of these favorites are going to endure well into the cold months!

Like last month, I'm sticking with the idea of categories of favorites rather than just grabbing a bunch of things that I've been loving. I like how that works because it forces me to really think about what I've been drawn towards for the passing month, especially if there might not be too many standouts when it comes to specific products. I'm definitely someone who likes to change it up.

When I was thinking about my favorites this month, I realized that I have a tendency to get really obsessed with types of products rather than specific products themselves, so I decided to do my favorites a little bit different this month. Basically, I wanted to pick my favorite products in the categories that I've been most gravitating to this month. I think this works well because maybe it'll inspire you to reach for similar products in your own collection or give you some options of products to pick up if you're also loving those categories. I swear, you guys, this might have been my hardest month ever to choose favorites for - and not because I didn't have enough to choose from, but because I had way too much. I definitely feel like I narrowed it down to the favoritest of the favorites though. There are a few products in this list that I plan on having full reviews on in February, but I couldn't resist including them in this favorites post because they really did impress me a ton this month!

I didn't do a Favorites post in for September because, honestly, I just didn't have any products that really stood out for me that month, but I have to admit that in October there were definitely some products that I found myself reaching for constantly. This is pretty makeup heavy, with only one skin care item... but obviously makeup favorites are more exciting anyway, am I right?

Honestly, guys, this has been a really, really good month for beauty for me and it was really hard to actually choose favorites - but I did! This is actually a contrast to last month when I skipped doing a favorites because everything was just a boring routine and I didn't really have anything I wanted to particularly talk about. This time around, I had to reign myself in! In fact, as I look at these photos while I write this, I feel like there's a few things that are missing - so look for honourable mentions in a few of the categories!

I swear, you guys, I can't believe it's already July. I know that this is a thing that people say pretty much all the time, but I really have no idea where June went. I've been incredibly busy this past month, doing a lot of socializing and spending time at the beach or the pool, and my makeup routine specifically has definitely shifted to being more about summery looks and keeping things simple. That's really what my favorites are about this month!

I decided this month that I need to be a little more diligent in keeping track of what I'm using, because I really don't know what my favorites are going to be until I stop and sit down to take the pictures. The way that I choose my favorites is really instinctual. It's based on what I've used the most over the month as well as the products I'm most excited about. Obviously, these tend to be things that are new to my collection, but sometimes I do throw in old favorites that have made a resurgence. This month's favorites is a good one, guys. I'm so excited about all of these products that I can't even stand it!

So... I'm a little late this month, but I actually wasn't really sure what my favorites were this month until I had a minute to sit down and really think about what I've been using and loving. Most months it's kind of a knee jerk, but this has been another month of a lot of new products rotating though my routine, which makes it a little harder. I feel like February has been a crazy month for me as far as beauty is concerned. I feel like I've been constantly trying new things and March is going to be packed full of product reviews of all of the products that I've been trying. Weirdly enough, that made it a little bit harder to choose my favorites thing month, because there were just so many products on the menu that it was really hard to focus. That said, I did get a selection of products that I've been loving, most of them fairly new to my collection, and I'm pretty excited to share them all with you guys!

Honestly, I feel like January was a month of new discoveries in my makeup collection. Between gifts from Christmas, shopping trips using gift cards, and all of the new releases happening in the makeup world, I was a little overcome with new things in the first weeks of 2016. Surprisingly, I also rediscovered a few long time favorites that had been passed up - and one that I had completely forgotten existed until I saw it in the drugstore and picked it up on a whim. I feel like this was a good month for me when it came to beauty. My skin is looking better than it has in all my adult life and, in turn, my makeup is applying a hell of a lot more smoothly. I'm not bragging, I swear, but it's been a good month! Surprisingly, thought, choosing my favorites this month has been a breeze.

I have to say, it's been a GREAT month for empties over here. I've been trying out a lot of new products this month, which is pretty much my favorite thing ever, and so many of the products I've been trying have been knocking it out of the park. In truth, there's only one thing on this entire list that isn't at least fairly new to me. A few of these products are slated to be reviewed in the near future, so I will keep the reviews here brief, but all of these products get the stamp of approval and recommendation from me, so check them out!

Honestly... Normally I feel like the month has passed really quickly and it's insane that it's already time for another favorites post, but this month feels like it actually passed at a pretty slow pace. It hasn't been a bad month - especially since Halloween came and went in Winnipeg without any snow on the ground. We're going to call that a big, fat win. It was even nice enough on Halloween night that we considered having a bonfire - We decided to play Cards Against Humanity inside rather than going outside, but it was nice enough that we had the option. Anyway, this is a very makeup heavy month for favorites, which I love, because I've really been extra loving doing my makeup every morning this month.

This was a bit of a rough month... which has probably been clear from the lack of consistent posting here on my part. I'm resolved to get back to posting at least 4 times a week starting from right now, but we'll see how that goes. Like I said... Rough month. Anyway, because it was kind of a rough month I tended to be pretty regimented with what I was reaching for every day, because it was just easier to go with the same stuff over and over rather than changing it up too much. As such, I've got a good selection of favorites this months, many of which are holy grail status or old stand by's. I have a couple of new finds that I'm absolutely loving as well, so I think it's a pretty good mix.

It's weird for me how easily this favorites post came together. It's likely because I've really been reaching for all of these products really consistently throughout the month and there was just no question that they were the ones that needed to be blogged for my favorites this month. Trust me when I tell you it's not usually quite this easy. It also doesn't hurt that this is a very, very makeup heavy favorites post. My eye looks have been pretty varied over the last month, from very light and simple to very experimental... Well, experimental for me, anyway. For me, August is all about glowing, healthy looking skin and a kind of ease, so that's sort of the direction that these favorites are heading. Anyway, without further adieu...

July was a bit of a crazy month, I have to admit. I feel like everything went really quickly and there were definitely some struggles. There were also really great things, like getting to meet a group of the gorgeous women from the Canadian Beauty Bloggers Network while I was in Toronto. When it comes to Favorites posts, I try not to think too hard about it. I go with my gut. Sometimes I'll put things aside long before I'm putting together the post or make notes to myself, but overall this is a really instinctual process for me. Anyway, these are the things that I reached for constantly during the month of July, a lot of them brand new to my collection and very exciting finds! For me, the past month has been all about base products on my face and I've been going for a very glowy, sunkissed look to the skin with prepped brows and much less attention to what's happening on my eyelids, which explains a lot of these favorites! Anyway, no more ado!

Anyway, June was a pretty crazy month and I can't believe how quickly it passed, amidst a whole lot of busy, a dash of incredible sadness, some distinct joy, and a lot of emotions. Oh, yeah, and a lot of makeup! I feel like I've really been having a little extra fun with my makeup lately, trying out some new things and experimenting, but for my favorites this month I really stuck with the some serious staples from my collection - most of which you've seen me mention before!

I know that it becomes somewhat predictable when people say that they can't believe another month has gone by... But seriously, how is it already June 1st? I have to admit, I'm excited for these summer months, so the passage of time doesn't bother me so much, but I'd love to be able to slow it down so that I can really soak up the next few months casually. Anyway, it's been kind of a weird month weatherwise here in Winnipeg, from incredibly hot to literally freezing cold with a couple of days, but it seems to be leveling out. The garden is planted, the AC has been turned on, and it's time for summer. For me, that means paying a little more attention to the skin on my body than I might when I get to cover it up in heavy sweaters all winter, and paring down my makeup to something a little more simple. I feel like that's really the theme with this month's favorites!
