REVIEW: VICHY TEINT IDEAL Illuminating Cream Foundation*

by - October 31, 2016

I'm realizing more and more that I'm becoming a bit of a foundation junkie - and I'm definitely getting more and more invested in finding a foundation that works exactly the way I want it to with my skin. Of course, I was thrilled when I found out that VICHY was releasing both a cream and a liquid foundation for different skin types, and I was excited to try them both out to see which one worked best for me. The first one I'm going to review for you guys is the VICHY Teint Idéal Illuminating Cream Foundation*, which is intended for people with dry skin.

About:
  • For the comfort of dry skin, the formula contain hyaluronic acid for 24h of continuous hydration.
  • 14 hour hold.
  • Bare skin effect, light-medium coverage.
  • Even finish; soft and lightly powdered.
  • Vitamin E unified, resulting in a more radiant complexion day after day.
  • Vitamin C regenerates the skin.
  • Mineral pigments for coverage and healthy glow.
  • Hyaluronic acid for 24 hour hydration.
  • Vichy Mineralizing Thermal Water

When I think of cream foundation, I think of a palette with heavy, cakey makeup that vaguely makes my skin crawl to think of putting it on my face, but this formula isn't like that at all. This is definitely a very creamy, emollient product, but when you apply it to the skin it feels very light weight and it's very buildable without getting caking up on the skin. It also blends into the skin very well, though I would recommend using a sponge with this one because it does take a little bit more blending with a brush, I've found.

I would say that I definitely agree with the light-medium coverage claim, although I have managed to build it up fairly easily with a second layer to give firmly medium coverage that I didn't find needed concealer to further cover minor blemishes.

Now, one thing I want to stress with this foundation is that when it says it's for dry skin, it isn't playing around. I think that people who have dry to very dry skin are really going to love this foundation, but I would avoid it if you have normal, combination or oily skin types because it will get greasy on you throughout the day. Currently my skin is fairly normal and I find that this applies beautifully and looks like really healthy, luminous skin, but after about 4-6 hours I look greasy and the product starts to really look like makeup on the skin - if that makes sense.

Overall, I think this is a great product for people with dry skin and gives a really lovely finish to the skin, but I would skip it and take a look at the liquid or powder foundation options in this range if your skin is normal to oily! If you're interested in reviews of the other products in the VICHY Teint Idéal range, check them out here. Personally, I'm going to keep this in reserve for January and February, which are by far my driest months of the year, and see how it works out for me then!

The VICHY Teint Idéal range is available now at drugstores across Canada as well as at Vichy.ca!
