SUMMER BEAUTY: What's In My Travel Bag?

by - July 04, 2017

It's been a while since I've done a What's In My Travel Bag post... because I haven't actually travelled anywhere out of province in nearly a year now. Admittedly, I'm not the biggest traveller and I'd pretty much always prefer to be within a half hour commute of my bed. Maybe an hour, but I tend to get cranky. I swear, I want to see more of the world, but so much of it is just so far from my cocoon. Anyway, me and my boyfriend are headed out to spend a week with some of his family out in the Okanagan, so it was time to pack up a bag and it seemed like a good time to let you guys know what I'm taking out there with me! I tried not to overpack this time, because I pretty much always plan for the makeup apocalypse when I go on a trip, and I think I did pretty well!

If you want to know what made the travel cut, keep reading!

SKINCARE
I decided to take this trip as an excuse to pick up this travel set from belif, which is a brand I've been wanting to try for quite a while but just haven't gotten around to. This kit included almost everything I need for a skincare routine for a week in perfectly travel friendly sizes and only cost me $15. The kit includes the Creamy Cleansing Foam Moist, the Bergamot Herbal Extract Toner, the Hungarian Water Essence, the Moisturizing And Firming Eye Cream, and The True Cream Moisturizing Bomb. Not bad, right? Also, the woman at THEFACESHOP, which is where I picked this up, hit me up with a sample of the The True Cream Aqua Bomb to try out, so that's going in my suitcase as well. Now, of course, because I'm a fiend for it, I had to include an acid toner so I grabbed for the Paula's Choice RESIST Daily Pore Refining Treatment 2% BHA because I really enjoy it and I had a mostly full travel size in my collection. Fingers crossed that this system works for me... I know I'm taking a gamble traveling with products I've never used before, so wish me luck.

Also, I'm going to toss a few sheet masks from THEFACESHOP in my bag as well, because flying is always a little bit rough on the skin and I want to be able to give it a little bit of extra hydration when I land.

ESSENTIALS
I'm really glad that I always have a lot of sample and travel sizes of products laying around in my closet, because it makes it really easy to just grab a few things and toss them in. I grabbed the Bath & Body Works Oahu Coconut Sunset Shower Gel, which smells incredible and perfect for summer. For hydration, I grabbed the VICHY Hand & Nail Cream, a long time favorite, and the Jergens Moisturizer For Wet Skin, which will be handy since we're staying in someone's home and I can put it on straight out of the shower and get dressed right away. For my hair, I of course grabbed the Bumble and bumble Fine (H)air Styler, because I won't be taking a blowdryer with me, and I filled up these amazing little travel squeeze bottles from Avon with my Live Clean Biotin Shampoo & Conditioner, since I see no point in picking up travel sizes when I can just fill my own with a product I already love. Finally, for my teeth, I packed this really handy RADIUS Travel Toothbrush, which has a handle that also functions as a travel case, and my favorite toothpaste Arm & Hammer Truly Radiant Rejuvenating

And when I was first packing, I forgot to pack a razor - which makes me really glad I made this post - so I grabbed a disposable Venus razor and filled another one of those squeeze tubes with the Avon Skin So Soft Silky Stay Shave Gel

MAKEUP
Sitting down and actually thinking about what makeup I was going to pack was a little bit stressful for me, I must admit. I tend to way overpack with makeup when I travel, but I really wanted to keep it simple for this trip with products that I could create basic summer looks with easily. Of course I had to pack my Skinceuticals Physical Fusion SPF 50, which doubles as both sunscreen and primer for me most days. I also packed my Wet N Wild Photofocus Foundation and Pressed Powder, because they've been real go to's lately, and grabbed two Arbonne Concealers that will take care of undereyes and blemishes. For my cheeks, I picked the Maybelline Masterblush Palette and the tarte Tarteist Pro Glow To Go, because both palettes are compact but offer me some options for blush, bronzer, and highlight.

Choosing an eyeshadow palette was probably the hardest choice for me, but I decided to go with the Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons palette because the tones are what I tend to go for in the summer and the tin packaging is nice and sturdy for travel. I also packed the Maybelline Color Tattoo in Creamy Beige, which is such a staple that I'm on my second pot of it and I know I can reach for it for a basic one shadow look that will last through hot days. For the brows I went with the L'Oreal Brow Stylist Definer and the Benefit Gimme Brow, both of which are just workhorse products for me. For mascara, I went with my old faithful, the L'Oreal Telescopic Shocking Extensions Waterproof, which has been discontinued - but I have several backups in my collection. It's waterproof and solid and I know that it'll get the job done. Finally, for lips I went with the L'Oreal Color Riche Lipstick in Jennifer's Nude, because it's literally the most universal, easy to wear lipstick I own, and also the AOA Studio Wonder Matte Liquid Lipstick in Hero, which I've been absolutely wearing out lately.

That's a lot of words... but I feel like it's actually a pretty nicely small number of products for travel. Thoughts?

I was super excited to find that everything I was going to pack easily fit into this neoprene Bumble and bumble. travel bag. Normally I have to take a much bigger bag, or two bags approximately the same size as this one, so I'm pretty happy with this whole situation. I know that most people probably don't even pack this much, but I really do feel like I've kept it to the essentials.
