FEATURED FIVE: Smells Like Fall

by - September 25, 2019

Fall is my favorite season. Honestly, I start hoping for fall to come probably about halfway through August every year. I start thinking about cozy sweaters and comfy boots and vampy makeup looks. One thing that I've really realized, though, is that my favorite smells in the world are the ones that I related to fall. There's just something really comforting about the smells of fall that bring me a lot of joy, so I wanted to share a handful of products that give me all of those fall feelings.

Bath & Body Works Marshmallow Fireside Candle
I honestly couldn't even tell you how many Marshmallow Fireside candles I've gone through over the years - and I know I'm not the only one who loves this candle because every year it seems to me like there's more and more stock to fill the demand. If you're unfamiliar with this scent, the notes are toasted marshmallow, smoldering woods, fire roasted vanilla, and crystallized amber. Of course, I never described scents by their notes, but by what they remind me of, and this reminds me of a combination of something sweet and lush paired with the sexiest mens cologne ever. To me it has that really strong sweetness that a lot of B&BW candles have, but it's offset so perfectly with that smoky sort of muskiness that's just... SO GOOD. Every fall, I have one of these in my house and ready to burn.

Live Clean Gingerbread Latte Liquid Hand Soap
Admission - this isn't actually available yet (EDIT: About an hour after originally posting this, I popped into Walmart and saw that they had these out!!) I stocked up last year and I've been hoarding this bottle waiting for the weather to get cold enough that I'll get the most from it. Obviously Live Clean hand soaps are literally all I use and I do genuinely love the scents in their regular range, but the holiday soaps are the ones that really get me and this is my all time favorite. It's spicy and sweet and gorgeous and I just love, love, love it. I think that these are launching for this upcoming holiday season in late October or November, so keep an eye out and if you see them... seriously, give this a sniff and see if it's your thing. I feel like they nailed the scent on this just perfectly.

CLEAN Cashmere Eau De Parfum*
I actually had a hard time choosing only one perfume for this post because this is my absolute favorite season to actually wear perfume and I have a few favorites that I cycle through. That being said, when it really came down to it, there was a clear winner to me and that's CLEAN Cashmere. When I first reviewed this fragrance, I described it as evoking a really soft warmth, and I feel like that's perfect for this time of year. There's just something really cozy and comforting about it, like getting wrapped up in a really soft blanket. You know, like cashmere. How do you describe a scent that smells exactly like how it should? You basically just reiterate over and over that it is what it is. Anyway, this fragrance is beautiful and cozy and perfect for fall.

DAVIDsTEA S'mores Chai Loose Leaf Tea
I've basically gone mad with tea power this fall and, for me, fall in the perfect time to jump into the chai. I'm definitely not a pumpkin spice latte kind of a girl - they taste kind of sour and weird to me - so my fall beverage of choice is pretty much always some sort of chai latte and I love making my own at home using loose leaf tea from DAVIDsTEA. This year, I went down and picked up their S'mores Chai, which was new to me, and I've kind of fallen in love. They really managed to nail down the flavours of s'mores with brittle pieces, chocolate chips, and bits of marshmallow, but they also bring that warm, aromatic spice with the cinnamon. If you're looking for a new tea to use to make your own chai lattes at home, I really do think this is a fantastic choice.

Cuter Cuticles Pure Porridge Barrier Butter
If you've been following anything having to do with nail care here on the blog, you'll know that Cuter Cuticles products have become my absolute favorites. This is actually kind of a surprising entry on this list because it was one of the Cuter Cuticles summer scents, but as soon as I got it I knew that it was going to be a fall must for me. Described as, "Rolled oats, creamy caramel with undertones of cinnamon and nutmeg are balanced by notes of raw syrup and a woodsy patchouli," this is a perfect warm and comforting scent for fall that has that aromatic warmth without going too far into spicy. Though this isn't still listed on the site (the summer scents have been replaced with the fall scents, including one called Snickerdoodle that I NEED in my life) she does do custom scents so if this interests you, you can just choose the custom option and include a note at checkout that you want Pure Porridge. It's so good!

Like I said, the smells that just scream fall to me are my absolute favorites and I'm going to basically be basking in them for as long as possible. Obviously any scent that you like is fine to enjoy all year long, but there is something about these warm, rich scents when there's a slight crispness in the air as far as I'm concerned.

I'd love to hear in the comments what YOUR favorite fall smells are!
