12 NAILS OF CHRISTMAS: Red & White Merry Christmas Nails

by - December 23, 2019

Ahhhhh! It's the last day of #12NailsOfChristmas, which comes with a little bit of sadness and a pretty significant feeling of accomplishment. I have to tell you, I was pretty bummed before doing this mani because I suffered a nail break and had to file my nails down shorter than they've been in months. I blame the stress on my nails of having to redo my nails so constantly as well as the dryness in the air for the fact that a little bump caused a chunk of my nail to just go byebye. Anyway, I'm still really happy with how these nails turned out and I'm excited to share.

So without any more whining from me, let's get into the nails!

For this mani, I actually started with my accent nail. I really, really wanted to include this sticker from the NailStuff.ca Merry Christmas Stickers* sheet, and to get the most impact I decided to use it on a white base. Because I didn't want to have to wait for regular polish to dry, I used gel. I started with a coat of peel off base coat - as always with gel polish - and then applied 3 coats of ASP White Hot Gel Polish. Once that was cured, I used my silicone tool to apply and really press down the sticker onto the nail and made sure it was flush before applying my gel top coat and curing that.

For the rest of my nails, I wanted to pair red and white, so I started with one coat of OPI A Kiss On The Chic as a base and then followed with a coat of Finger Paints Romanticism Ruby to get that shimmer and depth on the nail. Next, I applied the icicle details to my first and pinke fingers using white stamping polish and a fine nail art brush, varying the lengths and keeping them quite jagged.

Because I'm me, I also stamped snowflakes to the tips of each of those nails to help sort of fill the space and add some contrast using BornPrettyStore BP-Christmas-L006. For my middle finger, I used this reindeer image from the BeautyBigBang XL-093 stamping plate, which had actually been too small for my nail until that day.

Finally, I finished with - as usual - a generous coat of Seche Vive and voila!

Though I was pretty devastated by the nail break right before I finished these 12 mani's, I really am happy with the way that this mani turned out. And also, that break was nothing compared to the one that came within about 12 hours of taking these photos and has left me with a very, very short middle finger nail - SIGH! Anyway, if any mani in this set is super Christmasy, I think it has to be this one, which makes it a great way to end this 12 days!

Thank you so much for reading and I hope you all have a safe and happy holiday season!
