REVIEW: Avon Mattitude Liquid Lipstick
I have to admit, it's been a while since I've tried a new matte liquid lipstick formula. I feel like a few years ago I was greedy to get my hands on every formula, but lately I've really been trying to reign myself in. However, I recently tried out a few of the Avon Matteitute Liquid Lipsticks* and it's sort of reminded me exactly why I loved matte liquid lipsticks so much.

Instantly command attention when rocking any of the 8 long-lasting shades that leave a velvety soft finish and a powerful impression.
Avon Mattitude Liquid Lipstick in Ambitious*
Ambitious is neutral beige nude shade that's almost a sort of camel shade on my lips, but with a hint of pink and greyish undertones. I think this is actually a really pretty and wearable nude shade for my skin tone and would suit a pretty wide range of skin tones.
Avon Mattitude Liquid Lipstick in Resolute*
Resolute looks like a sort of rosy pink mauve in the tube, but ends up deepening up on the lips and shows up a little bit more lavender with grey undertones on my skin tone. This is 100% the kind of shade I would have worn a few years ago and I think that people who like those kinds of shades will really enjoy this one.
Avon Mattitude Liquid Lipstick in Devoted*
Devoted is a really pretty rosy shade that falls somewhere between a pink and a red for me. Upon application it's a sort of coral shade, but as it sets, it deepens and warms up a little bit on me and I feel like it's a perfect kind of every day lip colour that would suit a lot of different skin tones. I honestly thought this would be the shade that I would be least likely to reach for and it's ended up being my favorite and most worn.
Avon Mattitude Liquid Lipstick in Driven*
Driven is an almost neon berry purple shade - very bright and very bold, but still somehow wearable. Admittedly, this is pretty much the exact shade that I was killing myself looking for a few years ago for the summer and I think pretty much anyone who's comfortable with a bold look could get away with this shade because it's the kind of tone that will likely be really universally flattering.
All of the above swatches are one coat of coverage without needing to redip. The applicator wand is the type that has one of those little dips in it, so it holds a good amount of product but not so much that you're going to overwhelm and get messy. As you can see, the pigmentation is really, really solid in all four of these shades and you can easily get really smooth coverage without any patchiness with a pretty easy application.
The formula of these lipsticks is actually really interesting. Initially, the almost-whipped, very lightweight texture and quick dry down reminded me a lot of the earlier formulas of liquid lipsticks that tended to be really dry and crusty, but like the more updated formulas that we see these actually do feel like they retain some moisture even after they're set. I feel like the wear time is really good on these and I don't notice a lot of cracking or flaking like some other lighter weight liquid lipsticks, but I also really don't struggle to remove them at the end of the day either.
Overall, I have to say that I've actually been incredibly impressed with these lipsticks - much moreso than I was expecting. The formula is really surprising and it performs really, really well. I also think the shade selection was really smart and quite modern, offering something for a wide range of skin tones and tastes.
The Avon Mattitude Liquid Lipsticks are available now from Avon.ca & Avon.com as well as from your local Avon rep and retail for $15CAD.
