MANI MONDAY: Fall Grunge Nautilus Smoosh Mani
ILOVEFALL. Ahem. Seriously, though, now that the calendar page has flipped and September has brought with it the permission to leave summer behind and fall head first into fall, I am a bouncing ball of excitement. For this month's #CBBxManiMonday theme, we're doing Fall Shades and I very excitedly pulled out some from my collection and... promptly just smashed them all onto my nails? Literally though... for this mani, that's exactly what I did.

I started with a base of Essie's Expressie nail polish in Taxi Hopping, which is like that acid green sort of shade that borders on yellow but... not quite. Next, I grabbed my NailStuff.ca Clear Stamper, which is the stamper I always use for smoosh mani's, and added dots of Taxi Hopping along with essie's Sorrento Yourself, Color Club Twice Bitten, and Nailed It Jungle Fever. I made sure that I used a light hand with the darker shades so that they didn't overtake the smoosh too much when I applied it to my nails. After applying a cuticle barrier, I pounced the stamper onto my nails until I got the desired patter and blend in my smoosh.
For the stamping, I really wanted to add a sort of grungey design to go with the grungey base and I knew that I wanted it to be in a rich black. A recent purchase in my collection is the Nicole Diary L18 Stamping Plate, which has these sort of grungey layering designs, and since I've been a little bit obsessed with nautilus nails recently I knew that was the one I was going to want to use - so I did. I applied the same image to all of my nails, playing with the placement so that each nail looked a little bit different. Once that was done, I finished with a generous coat of Seche Vive Quick Dry Top Coat and voila!

Girl. Like, seriously, I know this kind of mani won't be to everyone's taste, but this is exactly the kind of thing I'm absolutely obsessed with. I love how these warm, rich shades play with each other and how the grungey nautilus stamping really feels like it pops the base. Obsessed - and it really drives how the Fall Shades theme, doesn't it?
