I have to admit, I've always, always wanted to do gingerbread man nail art for the holidays. I just think it's such a cute design and gingerbread men always make me think of the holiday season. Finally, this year I ordered the Uberchic Beauty Holiday Spirit Stamping Plate, which I've wanted for literally years, and was able to get this design onto my nails using drugstore polishes that I wouldn't have necessarily thought of off the top of my head!

I really, really wanted to keep this in a neutral, warm colour palette and initially I was going to go with a brown on brown sort of situation, but then I happened to stumble onto my own swatch of Sinful Colors Nude Mood and it just all came together in my head. I'm obsessed with this polish and I don't know why I don't reach for it more often because it's gorgeous. It's this deep raisin shade with a sort of olivey gold shimmer running through it. Stunner. So for this mani, I applied two coats as my base and let them dry down completely.

I have to admit that I didn't want to go with white for my stamping polish for this mani, but I just couldn't see any other way to get the contrast that I wanted. So, I picked up the full gingerbread man image on my stamper and then used a dual ended dotting tool to fill in the image. I decided to go with another polish from the Sinful Colors Naughty Nudes Collection - Come Closer. This shade just screamed the perfect gingerbread man colour for me. Once I had filled in the image and it was dry to the touch but still a little squishy, I applied a sticky base coat and transferred to the nail. 

Once I had cleaned up the edges with a cuticle tool followed by a clean up brush dipped in acetone, I sealed in the design with a layer of water based top coat and then followed with a matte top coat to take down the shine because I felt like this design just had to be matte. And voila!

I'm so so so glad that I finally did a gingerbread man mani and I'm really, really happy with how it turned out. The colour scheme may not scream Christmastime - but I really did want to include some mani's in this marathon of holiday nail art that weren't too on the nose and I think this is really one of those.
