NAIL ART: Pink On Pink Abstract Graphic Nails
Have I mentioned through the course of this month that pink isn't really my thing? As we've been working with the whole Pink & Red theme for February's #CBBxManiMondays I've definitely struggle with the pink of it all. And, if we're being honest, also the red. It's not really that I don't like them, I just don't really know what to do with them and when it comes to pink I generally think it looks kind of bad on me. So how did I combat that uncertainty about pink this week? I went with pink on pink on pink with a little splash of red. All pink (pretty much) all the time!

When it came to choosing the colors for this mani, I actually chose my stamping polishes first and worked from there since I knew those were going to be the star. I started with a really bold, cool toned nearly neon fuscia, a rich berry red, and then a light pink that leans a little bit peachy - especially against the cooler tones of pink in this mani. Once I had chosen those colors, I had to decide on a base. Ultimatley I ended up going with this very pale sort of mauve-y pink that I though served a good balance between really showing up as a pink shade but also light enough for the stamping to really show up.
For this mani, I started with two coats of OPI's Seven Wonders Of OPI to all of my nails as my base.
For the stamping, I decided to grab for my Uberchic Uber Mini Texture-licious 4 Stamping Plate and just... sort of play with different images until I figured out what I wanted. That's the fun of a plate like that that's full of these sort of random graphic images, you can just play around until you get a look you like and it'll always be a little bit different. For this mani, I ended up going with a larger dot image, two different parallel lines images, a large swirm, and a smaller sort of scribbly dots image. As I tend to do, I made sure to alternate stamping colors and placement so that each nail had its own unique look and just sort of stamped until each nail was full.
Once I was happy with my stamping, I cleaned up and then sealed everything in with a nail art top coat. I actually went back and forth on the finish I wanted for this mani, but ultimately I went with a quick dry glossy top coat for shine and volume. And voila!

So like.. Even though pink really isn't my thing and this mani is firmly in the category of pink overload, I'm actually really thrilled with how it came out. I love how it fills the nails and feels cohesive even though each nail is sort of a lot. Anyway, in closing, if you're unsure about a color just... go hard on it until you like it? Is that good advice? I don't know!
