NAIL ART: Warm & Cozy Beige Sweater Love Nails

by - February 18, 2022

I don't know how this winter has been in other places, but here on the prairies we've been experiencing a truly depressing situation of bitter cold with brief hits of warmer days where we just get hammered with snow. Honestly, we're absolutely running out of places to put it. As a result, I've been spending a lot of time tucked in under blankets reading recently and my desire to do anything - including my nails - has been less than usual. That said, I did get a hit of inspiration from a combination of the weather and some new products in my collection, so I put together today's mani pretty quickly and I think it has kick started my focus. Fingers crossed!

More and more lately I've been drawn to polishes that I know will make great bases for nail art, so as soon as I saw Stella Chroma's Here I Go, Here I Go from January's PPU, I knew I had to have it. Not only is it a perfect base for nail art, but it was inspired by Salt N Pepa's Shoop, which is one of the only songs that I can perform (poorly) front to back without any music or help at all. And I have. Many times. Like the big weirdo I am. Ahem.

This polish is a beige base packed with bronze, gold and clear holo glitters and has a matte finish. This is actually my first polish I've ever tried from Stella Chroma, but based on the performance and how gorgeous it is, it definitely won't be the last. It applied really beautifully with a smooth, even application and dried down to a gorgeous matte finish. For this mani, I applied 2 coats of Here I Go, Here I Go to all of my nails and let them dry down completely before I moved on to stamping.

Overall, this entire mani was really inspired by the Uberchic Mini Cozy At Home Stamping Plate. I was looking at all of the beautiful text images and thinking how great they would be over a knit sweater type of image and I ended up sort of going from there. I had to use a different stamping plate for the knit sweater image, so I grabbed Nioole Diary L13 along with a champagne gold stamping polish and just applied that image to all of my nails as a part of the base. Next, I went in with a basic white and a rich chocolatey brown stamping polish to apply first various heart images to all of my nails and then the text "Love Begins At Home" to my ring finger. This was honestly a really intuitive design that I just sort of went for, but I'm thrilled with how it all came together.

Once I was happy with my stamping, I sealed it in with a nail art top coat and then followed with a matte top coat to take down the shine and really amp up that cozy sweater vibe. And voila!

Considering how much I've been struggling lately, I can't even tell you how thrilled I am with how this mani came together. I love the overall vibe of it, I love the color story, and I really just love how cohesive it all turned out. There needs to be a little bit of horn tooting over here (for my mental health) so I'ma go toot toot. Also, keep an eye out for more mani's using this plate because... there's some percolating happening in my brainhole.
