CHRISTMAS NAIL ART: Snowy & Wintery Layered Evergreen Nails

by - December 18, 2022

One of my absolute favorite things in the winter is when the snow comes heavy and wet and ends up sticking around on the trees like a twinkly blanket. It's just one of the prettiest things in the world in my opinion - probably stemming from just how excited I got when I was a kid and that first stick around snow came because it meant ski season would be coming, now that I think about it. Anyway, this is definitely more of a general wintery vibe mani but I am definitely dreaming of a white, cozy Christmas.

I actually did do a mani similar to this one a few years ago and this is a bit of a recreation, with a twist, so I did want to stick to a similar color story but not actually use the same base polish specifically. In the end, I grabbed The King & The Queen from Dreamland Lacquer, which is this gorgeous blue/grey crelly base packed with gold metallic and warm toned iridescent flakes. What I love about this polish for this mani specifically is that intersection of the very cool toned wintery base with that warm twinkle, which just feels Christmasy to me for some reason. It also manages to bring something special and interesting to the base, but is subtle enough that it doesn't compete with the stamping.

To start, I applied two coats of The King & The Queen to all of my nails and let those dry down.

So the first time I did this mani, I only used the stamping image that in this one ended up on my middle fingers across all of my nails. This time, I still wanted to use that image because I really do think it's a great one, but I also wanted to add in another image that felt really, really cohesive and almost like a sister to the original image. The placement I went with was the sort of peak through images on my middle nails with the more scattered evergreen images on my outside nails and thumb. I started by applying each image to the corresponding nail in a really classic Christmas tree sort of green stamping polish and then layering the same image with white stamping polish, offsetting the placement just slightly.

Once I was happy with the design, I sealed everything in with a nail art top coat and then followed with a glossy top coat for shine and volume. And voila!

Again, as I said above, this isn't really specifically Christmas-y and I resisted the urge to add some festive text and draw it more into specificity. I like the general winteriness of it and as someone who is very, very emotionally connected to her White Christmas joy, the evergreen snowiness of it definitely feels like the holiday season to me. Love it.
