Today's mani is another recreation of one of my personal favorite designs that I did last year - but this time around I went with a much more traditionally Christmas color story and I think it might have turned out even better than the first time. Even though I tend to convince myself that reverse stamping is going to be complicated and take a lot time, it almost never does. That said, this mani also utilized some layered stamping, which I'm still getting the hang of if I'm being honest, and that really does make the whole process go a lot more smoothly.

THIS POST IS IN PARTNERSHIP WITH PUEEN COSMETICS.

I knew that for this holiday season I would be figuring out a way to use this single image from the Pueen 115 Stamping Plate to create a whole mani and I knew that it wouldn't just be using the full cover image on all of my fingers. Of course, I wasn't entirely sure about anything else beyond that, but I rolled with it anyway. I tend to like to challenge myself and I also tend to feel like I need to bring something creative in hopes of maybe offering some creative inspiration on different ways to use full cover stamping images.

I love nail polish. Like... talk about an obvious statement, but what I mean when I say that is really that I love all of the beautiful formulas and finishes that nail polish makers create and I really, really love to let them guide my own creativity whenever possible to put together nail art designs that do them justice. Now, I don't know if I always exactly succeed in that, but it's generally the goal. Today's nail art design is actually 100% inspired by the base polish that I used and I am honestly kind of obsessed with it. It's ultimately quite a simple mani, but I think there's an interesting intricacy to it that turned out really cool.

I must admit that there are definitely times when I completely mess up a mani and ultimately decide not to post it here on the blog. Sometimes I end up trying again and other times I delete all of the photos and video and pretend it never happened. In this case, it is obviously the former. I'll detail a little bit why the first mani didn't work out while I tell you how I did it, but I think it is important to be honest - only seeing the final product of people's work, I think, can be a little bit discouraging when no one talks about the fails and the retries and whatnot.

Winter finally hit here in Winnipeg over the winter - which probably sounds crazy to a lot of people not used to this particular climate, but trust me... The years that the first snow of the year isn't in October are fewer than one might hope. But over the course of 4 days, we've basically gone from a nice, warm, comfy fall into full on winter, so it's officially time for cozy. (I mean, I've been fully into my cozy since the beginning of September, but now it's justified. Anyway, the reason I bring this up is that it leads into the design of this mani - this smoky blue base with tonal stamping and some graphic hygge vibes. I dunno... feels cozy and wintery to me!

Generally I don't pick up a lot of thermal polishes because it can be tricky to use them in nail art - and generally, I am someone who always adds nail art on top of my polish. That being said, ever since Cadillacquer released Eivor last fall, I've had my eye on it and NailStuff.ca was kind enough to gift it to me recently and it absolutely lived up to what I hoped for it. But... I had absolutely no idea how I was going to use it for nail art until I had it on my nails I had a downright lightbulb... Succulents! And it seemed like the perfect time, with this being our last week of May Flowers themed #CBBxManiMonday... even though hens and chicks aren't technically flowers, they sort of look like it!
