Prairie Beauty

For our January #CBBxManiMonday theme this year, we went with Blue & Purple which was inspired by the Pantone 2022 Color Of The Year - Very Peri. Periwinkle is such an interesting color because it does sit really perfectly between a blue and a purple and I actually found, as I was going through my collection, that I didn't have many shades that I really felt like fit into the Periwinkle category, but then as I had a bit of a lightbulb moment and the design for today's mani came together really, really quickly in my head and then on my nails.

Marsala. Anyone else instantly want Indian food? Everytime I hear about this colour for the next year, I'm going to crave Indian food. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

From the Pantone website:
Much like the fortified wine that gives Marsala its name, this tasteful hue embodies the satisfying richness of a fulfilling meal while its grounding red-brown roots emanate a sophisticated, natural earthiness. This hearty, yet stylish tone is universally appealing and translates easily to fashion, beauty, industrial design, home furnishings and interiors.

The Versatility of Marsala

  • Equally appealing to men and women, Marsala is a stirring and flavorful shade for apparel and accessories, one that encourages color creativity and experimentation
  • Flattering against many skin tones, sultry and subtle Marsala is a great go-to color for beauty, providing enormous highlight for the cheek, and a captivating pop of color for nails, shadows lips and hair.
  • Dramatic and at the same time grounding, the rich and full-bodied red-brown Marsala brings color warmth into home interiors
  • An earthy shade with a bit of sophistication, texture is the story in print and packaging. A matte finish highlights Marsala’s organic nature while adding a sheen conveys a completely different message of glamour and luxury.

For makeup lovers, I feel like this is a really perfect shade and actually really on trend. Recently we've seen this sort of shade popping up and I feel like it'll translate perfectly into all kinds of different makeup applications. I also really feel like this colour is suited perfectly for the matte trends that we've seen really emerging with makeup products, particularly lips and eyes, since this is definitely a shade that would be most impactful in a matte velvet type finish. The last three years have seen Tangerine, Emerald, and Orchid as the Colors Of The Year, which makes this feel like a huge step away from those brighter, more vibrant shades, but I feel like that's a good thing. And, again, very much on trend and perfect for eyes, lips and cheeks in equal measure.

Also, can I just say... I feel like my Bite Deluxe Matte Lip Crayon in Glacé is going to get a lot of wear in 2015!

I don't know about you, but I'm really excited about this year's Color Of The Year. What about you?
