IPSY October 2014 - Spoilers!

by - October 06, 2014

Seems like this is going to be the new normal for IPSY, allowing people to see their Glam Rooms before bags even ship... and I think I'm pretty into it. There were a few times that I tried not to look at my Glam Room so that I could be surprised when I opened my bag... but I'm not that kind of girl. True story, there have been more than a few times when I've Googled spoilers for a movie while I'm in the middle of watching it. Kinda ruins the suspense, I realize, but I don't think I'm necessarily a big fan of suspense.

Last week there was a big of a screw up on the part of IPSY, where they offered members an opportunity to see a spoiler... that didn't seem to actually exist, at least not via the channels that they offered. I assume that they fixed it over the weekend, though I didn't check, and then when I tried to view it this morning I found that Glam Room access was open. Score! (I didn't know what I was going to blog about today anyway... I'm not one for having a plan, which is probably not the best way to attack this, but alas...)

Anyway, keep reading if you want to see this month's full spoilers...

1. City Color Be Matte Lipstick in Cappucino
2. Figs & Rouge Hand Cream in Mango Mandarin
3. Jessie's Girl Mineralized Baked Eyeshadow Powder
4. KISS iENVYbyKISS Lashes
5. Skyn Iceland Mini Glacial Cleansing Cloths

I keep looking at the contents of my bag and trying to decide how I feel about it and I'm kinda torn. First off, I'm excited for the lipstick. I'm a huge fan of matte lipstick in general and I actually really liked the Be Matte blush from City Color that was included in a previous bag. I'm seriously miffed about the hand cream since I received hand cream last month and I haven't even used it yet. Those are the kind of products that always end up getting thrown with all of the other sample sized creams that I have and never gets used. I'll make an effort though, winter is coming after all. I'm cautiously excited about the Jesse's Girl eyeshadow. Excited because I've actually heard really good things about the formula of this shadow, cautiously because some of the colours that they're going to be sending out are not my thing at all. I'm crossing my fingers for the plum shade in the picture. Please, please, please. And then there are lashes. Hmm. Maybe they'll be really pretty and I'll want to wear them. They have to be better than the shitshow lashes I've gotten from Memebox, right? We'll see! I'm also pretty happy about the wipes, weirdly enough. I always try to keep one of those little travel size packs of wipes in my desk and I'm actually out at the moment. It's handy that I don't have to go pick one up yet. Also... My mom's side of the family hails from Iceland and I identify as being Icelandic, so anything that even says Iceland on it gets my vote. Except for the hockey team in D2 The Mighty Ducks... Eff Team Iceland. Yeah, I went there.

Anyway....

Can you actually believe that there are 25 possible products this month? I feel like that might actually give a bigger variety in the different bags that people get... which is both exciting and probably infuriating for people who get shitty bags. Someone always gets a truly shitty bag, don't you think?

There are a few products on there that I would have liked to have gotten, particularly the Cirque Colors Nail Lacquer and maybe the Skone Cosmetics TATTOOED Waterproof Eyeliner, and I probably would have been happy with most of the skincare things. I'm sincerely glad that I didn't get the NYC Mascara... or any of the mascaras, really, as well as the Rihanna fragrance sample. True story, I really dislike Rihanna. Can't help it. Don't want her perfume for all the same reasons I don't want Taylor Swift's perfume. So that's a plus for me.

My overall take on this bag is pretty positive, I'd say. The hand cream can go screw for all I care, but I'm not mad at the rest of the items. I guess we'll see for sure when it comes. Also, the picture of the bag looks pretty cute... hopefully it's actual cute in person, right?

Do you have Ipsy? Have you seen your bag this month? Are you excited?

If you have yet to sign up for Ipsy, CLICK HERE to head over to the site and join the waitlist. From what I understand, it doesn't take too long to get off the list and I sincerely think it's worth the money every month even if you don't love all of the products. It's under $20 a month for Canadians ($10 a month if you're in the US) and you receive a unique makeup bag every month filled with 5 new beauty products to try out. Usually the sizes are deluxe sample size, but sometimes you get really lucky and get a couple of full size products in the mix. Either way, it's always a good value and an exciting package to get in the mail.

Check back soon for my unboxing (of the bag, yes... still, unboxing is the best word) and first impression reviews of the products I am going to receive.
