SUBSCRIPTION: Ipsy Glambag August 2016

by - August 30, 2016

So... this is a little late, but I feel like this month's Ipsy bag took forever to get to me, so I was a slave to the postal service! Anyway, this month's theme is Sugar Highness and I am admittedly a little obsessed with the frothy, pastel, let-them-eat-cake kind of vibe they have going on with it. I also think the bags are just absolutely gorgeous this month and I have a little girl in mind who I think will go crazy for it when I give it to her.

I could ado all day, but let's get to what I got this month, shall we?

If you saw my spoilers post a few weeks ago, you won't be surprised by anything that I got. You may also remember that I was disappointed when I saw my glam room, but withholding judgement until I had the actual bag in my hands. I try to do it that way just because... Just because!

111SKIN Bio Cellulose Facial Treatment Mask
1 Mask - Value $34.11CAD
The Bio Cellulose Mask uses the latest in face mask technology to instantly transport beneficial nutrients into the skin and provide instant hydration.

So... this is an expensive sheet mask! I'm not gonna lie, I was excited about it just because it's a sheet mask, and as far as I'm concerned I'm always happy to get a sheet mask, but I just about fell down when I Googled this to get the value and found out just how expensive these masks actually are. I'm going to try it, because of course I'm going to try it, but I'm a little skeptical about how it can measure up to its price point.

Beauty For Real I-LINE 24-7 Eyeliner in Black Magic
Full Size Product - Value $18.23CAD
A gel-gliding and waterproof black eyeliner with intense payoff for a bold finish that won’t smudge, budge or dry out. Easy to blend, the matte black formula contains Vitamin E to naturally combat aging skin

As is true every time I get a black eyeliner in a subscription these days, I'm kind of over it. That being said, I used this to touch up my winged liner today and it's pretty damn impressive. It's SUPER black with a really creamy texture that glides onto the skin easily and has the most minimal transfer once its set. Because I like to tight line without it transferring to my waterline, I'm crossing my fingers that this is going to work well for that.

Lord & Berry 20100 Maxi Matte Crayon Lipstick in Intimacy
1.8g Deluxe Sample - Value $ 11.37CAD (approx.)
We’re ready to get close with this richly pigmented crayon. The subtle pink goes with absolutely everything. Our favorite shade for summer and fall.

I literally couldn't find anywhere online how much product comes in a full size of one of these, so I eyeballed it and felt like it looked like about 2/3 of a full size and based my value off that. Anyway, I'm actually really happy with this product. The shade is a really gorgeous, wearable mauve that is right in my wheelhouse and it applies really smoothly without any tugging on the lips. I'm not sure what the wear time is or how comfortable it is on the lips for any extended period of time, but I'm looking forward to testing it out!

NYX Born To Glow Liquid Illuminator in Gleam
13ml Deluxe Sample - Value $7.94CAD
Capture that sexy glow with our lightweight multi-functional illuminator. Use as a foundation base or over cheekbones décolletage or cupids bow for that refreshing luminosity that'll have everyone talking.

I'd like to just rant for a minute, if I may. I have my skintone listed as fair on the Ipsy website... and there is a light enough shade of this included in this month's bags to suit my skintone, but instead they sent me the one that's too dark and essentially useless to me. Thanks, Ipsy. Two thumbs WAY down. (Clearly, by rant, I mean... sarcastically snip.) Anyway, I would have loved to try this in a shade that I could use and it's a fairly generous sample, but this is pretty much useless to me.

Peter Lamas Supreme Radiance Complexion Booster
10ml Deluxe Sample - Value $19.08CAD
Lightly-tinted and ultra sheer, this booster is the perfect brightening pick-me-up for your everyday look. Major bonus: it feels ah-maz-ing on your skin.

So... this is a weird product. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but it definitely wasn't a product that looks like brown sugar paste. That being said, I've actually looked into it since I was weirded out by the colour of it, and it looks like a pretty cool product. You can use it alone or as a primer (I'll be doing the latter) and it's supposed to improve the appearance of skin while imparting good skin care ingredients. Looking forward to trying this out for sure!

250 Point Reward... pixi Glow Tonic Exfoliating Toner
Admittedly, I wish I had saved up these points so that I might be able to get my hands on one of the Hourglass primers before they disappear... but that being said, I've been dying to try this for AGES and was really bummed when Target started carrying it finally only after they had exited Canada. This is a pretty tiny sample, but I think I'll be able to get a feel for how I like the product so I can decide whether I want to order some!

Total Value: $90.73CAD

Honestly, for me, I don't feel like this is a bag worth nearly $100, but I definitely do like that there are some higher value samples in here. I love the theme and bag this month and I'm so far happy with 2 of the products, excited to try another 2, and vastly disappointed in the last one. Not bad, right? It's definitely an improvement on how I felt when I saw my Glam Room - which I find tends to be true a lot of the time.

If you're interested in joining Ipsy, I'd love if you'd use my referral link, since I'm always trying to build up those points. Shameless. Anyway, Ipsy costs $10US a month (plus $5US for us Canadian customers for shipping) and gets you a monthly make up bag with 5 deluxe and full sized beauty products.

Thanks for reading!
