MAKEUP LOOK: 10 Minute Makeup For When You Slept In

by - October 06, 2016

This post is inspired by true events... We've all had those mornings when the alarm on your phone goes off and you think you're ready to get up, so you turn it off instead of snoozing it for another 10 minutes of sleep. And then you roll over and it's been longer than you thought and suddenly you have 20 minutes to get out the door and you still have to feed the dog and decide what to wear. You can choose to go without makeup or just throw on a little mascara, but when you're a makeup junkie and it comes down to it... It's all about getting a full face in there before it's time to go. Am I right?

Here's my go to look and tips for getting a put together face of makeup in 10 minutes!

Tip #1: Use Products You Know & Love

When it comes to getting a look done quickly, I think the most important thing is to use products that you're familiar with and know will get the job done without too much work on your part. If you're messing with new products that you haven't gotten used to or products that you have to put a little bit of extra work into getting right, it's going to eat up precious time and you're likely going to be late. Stick to what you know and you'll easily be able to get it done. Also, skip any steps that you can get away with like primers and liners to keep everything really simple.

Tip #2: Choose An Easy Base

For me, an easy base is one that I can put on with my fingers or a quick blend with a brush that will give me good coverage and solid wear through the day. When I need one of these products, I reach for a BB cream. My favorite BB cream for this is the Etude House Precious Mineral BB Cream Bright Fit, which gives solid coverage, doesn't require much blending or concealing, and stays in place all day without needing a powder. Because I have dark circles, I will usually throw on a little bit of concealer and set it with a light dusting of powder. (There is NO TIME to bake!) For this look I reached for another two Go To products for me - the Maybelline FIT Me Concealer and the Sonia Kashuk Chic Luminosity Glow Powder.

Tip #3: Do Something Simple & Comfortable On Your Eyes

I think most of us that do makeup on the daily have a look that we're really comfortable doing that doesn't take much time. This look probably isn't the most interesting look in the arsenal, but it gets the job done and looks good. My personal favorite eye look when I'm in a hurry involves 3 products and almost no blending. Simple, right? First, I start with the Maybelline Color Tattoo in Creamy Beige and I apply it with the Real Techniques Deluxe Crease Brush. This gives me a good base that lasts all day and blends really easily from the lash line up into the crease. Next, I like to pack the Naked Cosmetics Mica Pigment in Sierra Nevada #02 over the inner 2/3 of the lid to draw a little bit of light there and give the look some interest. Finally, I use the shade Cover from the Urban Decay NAKED 2 Basics palette to deepen up the outer corner and crease just a little and also blend that shadow along the lower lash line for some definition. I finish the eyes with whatever mascara I'm currently using, in this case the IT Cosmetics Superhero Mascara on the upper lashes and the L'Oreal Telescopic Shocking Extensions Waterproof on the lower lashes. The fact that I used two different mascaras in a 10 minute look is ridiculous, I realize, but that's just what I do.

Tip #4: Keep Everything Else Simple & Natural

If I'm leaving my house, I have to fill in my brows, but when I'm really in a hurry I just go for a brow pencil that I know gets the job done and do a really quick fill. In this case, I used the Annabelle Skinny Brow Pencil in Universal Dark and quickly set my brows with Benefit Gimme Brow. Because Korean BB cream really highlights how fair I am, I went in with some Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer to warm up my face. Next I popped a little bit of Too Faced Love Flush Blush in Baby Love on my cheeks and added a little bit of highlight to the tops of my cheekbones with the essence Pure Nude Highlighter. Both of those products give me a nice, soft look so they're a bit of a no brainer. Finally, I think choosing a lipstick that you could basically apply with your eyes closed is the way to go, so you don't have to worry too much about lip liner or making it look smooth and polished. For me, the #1 go to lipstick for this in my collection is the Milani Color Statement Lipstick in Matte Naked, which lives in my purse for this very purpose.

Now, I completely understand that most people in a rush aren't necessarily going to use 11 products when they only have 10 minutes to get ready, but these are a very specific set of 11 products that I know will put together a look for me quickly that will look put together. If I'm in a bigger rush than this, it's generally just some BB cream, tinted lip balm, and a little mascara, but I wanted to show a full face look that's easy as pie and let you know how I get it when I'm in a big hurry.

I'd love to hear about your tips and tricks for getting a full face of makeup without much time! Let me know in the comments!
