REVIEW: Arbonne Makeup Primer

by - February 22, 2017

Hi guys! Today I'm super excited to share with you a full review of one of the products listed in my January 2017 Beauty Favorites, the Arbonne Makeup Primer*. As I said in my review of the Arbonne Sheer Glow Highlighter*, I was an Arbonne virgin until recently when I got the chance to try out some of their products and learn more about the brand. I have to say, I'm definitely a convert to the brand thus far based on what I've tried and can't wait to try out more of their products.

Without too much rambling, let's just get right into the review, shall we?

The claims on this product are that it will glide on and diminish the look of fine lines and wrinkles to give a smooth surface to apply your makeup over. The most direct review of this product is that it lives up to its claims and does exactly that. Personally, I've always been a little bit on the fence about silicone based primers because I've found that some of them make my makeup slide around throughout the day, but I've actually found that this one helps to not only prolong the overall wear of my makeup but also helps to keep my makeup from settling into fine lines and pores throughout the day.

As I said in my other review, the Sheer Glow Highlighter*, which I prefer to use as a primer, has more a lotion type feel even though dimethicone is the first ingredient. This primer, however, definitely has that very smooth, almost powdery slip to it that I expect in silicone based primers. It's that texture, I think, that really helps to give a smoother, more perfected look to the skin.

The way that I like to use this product is to pump it out onto the back of my hand and then use my fingertips to press it into the skin where I feel like I could use more smoothness. On my face, that's on my cheeks where I have visible pores, around my nose, and through the center of my forehead. While there is some slip left on the skin, I don't find that this doesn't feel heavy on the skin and I haven't had any issues with it balling up on me or making my makeup move around throughout the day, however I do tend to lightly powder those areas just to be sure of that.

I don't know what it's been about this winter that consistently has me reaching for primers, but I've really been loving the way my makeup has been laying on the skin since I have been. This has been a really great primer for me and I definitely will continue using it - and because a pea sized amount goes a really long way for me, I feel like this will last me quite a while.

Thanks for reading!
