SKIN CARE: New 2017 VICHY Idéalia Releases

by - March 06, 2017

As you guys know if you read this blog with any frequency at all, VICHY is one of my favorite skin care brands and I've been consistently using their products for the past couple of years or so with really great success. Recently, VICHY released 4 new products in the Idéalia line and, I can tell you, the excitement was real for me as soon as I saw them teased on my social media. The Idéalia line is perfect for women in their 30s, which is where I am currently, and helps to revive dull skin and fight the first signs of aging. Since I first tried the Idéalia Life Serum, this particular range has been a favorite of mine and one that I've used consistently in my routine.

I got the opportunity to try out all four of the new products and I have to say, VICHY has done it again! Keep reading for more!

VICHY Idéalia Radiance Activating NIGHT Peeling Care*
A peeling action [Glycolic Acid + Hepes] has been combined with the extracts of Fermented Black Tea and Blueberry containing Polyphenols, as well as Vichy Mineralizing Thermal Water. This unique product eliminates the excess of dead cells and stimulates skin regeneration in order to reactivate glow. Over time, even dark spots and acne marks are faded and wrinkles smoothed. The skin is like new.

For a while now, I've been hoping that VICHY would release an acid, since that's one of the most important parts of my skin care routine, so this was by far the most exciting of the new releases for me. This product contains 4% Glycolic Acid, which makes it perfect for daily use without fear of irritation. Basically what an acid is going to do in your skin care routine is break down the bonds between skin cells to help them shed naturally. I like to use this product right after my evening double cleanse. I soak a cotton pad with it and massage it over the skin thoroughly before moving on with the rest of my skin care routine.

Since I've been using this, I've definitely found that it's a great addition to my skin care routine. I find that when I use an acid, I really want to feel that tingle on my skin and see some pink so that I really know that it's working, and I definitely get that with this. At first, it can feel a little bit tingly and sensitive, but I find that it goes away fairly quickly and the pink really isn't a sign of irritation for me. If you do have any irritation when using an acid, I would recommend that you drop down to a few times a week or every other night to get your skin used to it. Because I've been using an acid consistently for the past year or so, I found that this slotted in seamlessly to my night time skin routine. Used nightly, I've found I wake up with smooth, brightened skin every time.

One thing that I feel inclined to mention every time that I write about acids is that when you're using one, you absolutely have to use an SPF to protect your skin because it will be more sensitive to the sun. Look for a post about every day sun protection coming soon!

VICHY Idéalia Radiance Booster Serum*
A serum infused with antioxidant citrus flavenoids, energizing adenosine and an illuminating licorice root extract, to speed up the transformation of normal skin into smooth, glowing skin: first effects proven in 8 days. With its new liquid texture that is non-sticky and absorbed straight away, it guarantees an optimum rate of hydration for 24 hours.

One of my all time favorite VICHY products was the Idéalia Life Serum, so this serum was also at the top of my list of things to try. This is definitely a lighter texture than the Life Serum and it really does absorb into the skin quickly, but I still find that it packs quite a punch. At night, I like to apply this immediately after my toner or retinol and give it a minute to soak into the skin before moving on to the next step in my routine. In the morning, I use this immediately before my moisturizer.

While testing this, I've found that it really packs a lot of hydration, making my skin feel really deeply nourished as soon as I apply it. I especially think this makes it a great serum for daytime because it helps to prep the skin for makeup, giving it a sort of plumped and smoothed look and feel. As far as overall results with consistent use, I really think that this has helped to both brighten and smooth my skin. The biggest change I've seen, I think, is that my skin continuously feels plump and hydrated while using this regularly. Definitely a huge fan of this serum!

VICHY Idéalia Smoothness & Glow Energizing Cream*
Superactivated with blueberry rich in polyphenolds and fermented black tea extract, Idéalia Day Cream offers the same sensorial experience as before. Fresh, creamy, silky... its unique texture keeps its sensuousness in tact, combining the freshness of a gel with the comfort of a cream.

Honestly, until I read the press release on this, I thought it was a night cream and I used it as such, and I've actually found that's the way I prefer it even now that I've been using it during the day. I do think this makes a great day cream as well, but I actually prefer the next product for day time. One thing that I love about VICHY's gel cream formulas is how much hydration they pack while still feeling really light and comfortable on the skin. Because I'm someone who definitely needs to pay attention to keeping her skin hydrated, but hates the feel of heavy cream on the skin, this is a huge plus for me. For someone with very dry skin, this will likely be something you're more into during the day, but I think for anyone with combination/oily to normal skin this is perfect both day and night.

Something that is really impressive to me about this formula is the fragrance. I personally don't have a huge problem with light scents in my skin care, but it always feels like a concern because I know that it can be a deal breaker for people with sensitive skin. This product boasts a hypoallergenic fragrance, comprised of white flowers and tea - and it actually smells really luxurious. Pretty cool, right?

VICHY Idéalia Smoothing and Illuminating Gel-Cream*
A complex of natural actives in a formula to boost the natural glow, even complexion, refine pores, smooth fine lines and day long shine control. Extract of fermented black tea enhances the skin quality, while the absorbent microbeads take care of any excess sebum.

This is the product that I've been reaching for as my daytime moisturizer recently, because I feel like this really works beautifully underneath my makeup. It's definitely hydrating, but it's also formulated with ingredients that help control oil and refine the skin texture. It's definitely thicker than the Day Cream and has a slightly more mousse-like texture that reminds me a little bit of a primer and I feel like it really helps to prep my skin for makeup. Cool, right? For me, I would recommend this to someone who has normal to combo skin. I don't find it excessively mattifying, which is perfect for me but might disappoint some of my more oily girls who need something a little more intense. Personally, I can't use products that are too mattifying, so this was pretty in line with what I was looking for.

Honestly, you guys, when it comes to VICHY I continue to be incredibly impressed by how well a lot of the products work for my skin. For my personal needs, the Idéalia and Aqualia Thermale ranges are pretty neck and neck as my favorites, but something else I love about the brand is that there's specific lines for so many different people. These new releases from the Idéalia range have overwhelmingly impressed me and I know that the Serum and the Night Peel particularly are going to be products that I continue to reach for and the two that I would recommend most highly.

VICHY products are available in drugstores nationwide in Canada as well as on Vichy.ca!
